Yesterday as my family gathered to celebrate mothers day, my nephew who works for comcast and i went out to smoke a j and he told me about some of the training seminars he has been through. The one that shocked me was a seminar in spotting possible criminal enterprises including marijuana grow ops. He then went on to tell me how comcast and leo's are in a partnership which for every tip from a technician that results in a conviction they recieve between $500.00 and $2500.00 as a bonus from leo and a week paid vacation from comcast. He said some of the things they are trained to look for are ballasts, extension cords, evidence of by-passing electric meters, lots of water jugs, soil, fertilizers, suspiciously locked rooms, modifications to ventilation ductsm strange odors or light emminations. So if you plan to get cable, or upgrade your cable make sure everything looks like its on the up and up.

Do you know if this is recent? About 9 months ago comcast did my cable/internet hook up. The guy who did it was actually sub-contracted by comcast to do the work. well, all my shit was away, nothing in sight, but I guess a bit too much was in smell. He asks me, what strain you growing, how long in flower, but sounded more grower savvy than that.

I played dumb, and he respected it. When he was done, I 'made' him smoke a j with me. Then he told me how I could get free HBO, if I waited until they came to check up on his work first. I didn't fuck with it, only because I feel like stealing anything you don't need to live is bad karma.

So, either this shit is new, or there are enough of 'us' doing cable work. Or maybe they dont report in states with MMJ laws? If you have any more info, I'd love to know!

This is knowledge you should already take into consideration. Currently, to be an American is to live in a Police State. DOn't forget the Old Lady in the news that just got killed on a No Knock Warrant - she thought she was being attacked by bad guys (actually, they were bad guys with badges) and attempted to defend herself. They straight out slaughtered her - then planted cocaine in attempts to justify their actions.

You don't have to walk around paranoid of every shadow, just take precautions.
Set up your grow in a secure place. Even if it's a cab, remember the rules: no light leaks, no smell, no sound. Never think for a minute, it can't happen to me. But what if the fire department needs to come in. The gas man, the telephone guy, - the list goes on.
Toking in your living room with the front door open (I'm guilty of this one) are you paying attention to whom comes up your walk? Many times I've wondered if the mail carrier smelled my weed as I was smoking a doobie. - oops.

Just take the precautions and don't forget, even the guy whom seemed cool may snitch you out in a heartbeat. Today people are brainwashed. Daily they see that stupid poorly animated commercial about how evil marijuana is. They are tested and threatened. In the news, they try to make violent criminals crimes seem even more heinous by noting that they had marijuana on them.

Not taking security precautions on your grow is the same as putting a gun to your head and pulling the trigger to see if it's loaded or not.

to go off subject a lil bit.. they set up a fake website. that sold all kinds of cool things ps2, xbox 360, ipods, etc... and they would go in to chats and give out bogus cc#'s and then watch people take the bait. It took them 1 minute to track that persons every single move and transaction.. Made me a lil paranoid.. i mean they watched these people make buys. This is a wake-up call to me to clean up and keep it clean. i don't have much out but 4 gl pails and water jugs ain't that easy to hide in a garage. i think i'll put a tarp over them and that'll be better than in a corner.

Buddy Boy, true, true. Just to clarify, I have since moved. The bitch was that I had been flowering for like 35 days, and really wanted/needed to go another 20. I weighed my options, looked for a new place, bought a carbon filter, and just paranoided it out those last days.
