Every year same shit weird enough... the hindu kush and strawcough are troopers and don't have any bugs... which leads me to believe that the Maui is almost mite attractant... which then leads me to believe I need a New Maui / Sativa... lemme lemme upgrade!!

Any Suggestions???

I'm def over having them lil fockers... Colorado is full of em so it's time to run more resistant pheno's... Conveniently most of my new strains seem to be that way... the true test will be this fall indoors... I would love to get a new juicy sativa to play with too tho:dance:

Sonofabitch. Your mites be contagious, cleveland steamer.

Just poked my head in on my ratty looking Deathstar (day 62) and couple Happy Valleys.

F*cking Deathstar's got some mites on'er! :cuss: More than I feel comfortable leaving/trying to treat. She's gotta come out soon. Got some spinosad on her (and the two seemingly-unaffected Happy Valleys) pronto, gonna give her a rinser spray and then get her TFO ASAP.

Might be wax or any other alternate disposition time.. :blackeye:

Don't sneeze my way anymore please. :yikes:

do you guys use neem oil? for prevention? I was a bit lax with the neem, first doing only once a week (instead of 5 days with neem at bedtime and washing in the morning) and then once every 2-2.5 weeks and last neem spray was a month ago.

Sorry if that's the wrong thread & i'll take it elsewhere...

Bloody Bollocks Silv!!! Shit be cray these days... this time of year for me is difficult without some kind o cooler... I got a pile of bugfilled bamboos and plants in the firepit and they gonna burn :smoky:

Canna woop!- We all chill round here eh!! I ran neem years ago for many years and Azamax for a while after that. I got irritated by the smell after so long... I had been running a steam vaporizer with cinnamon and eucalyptus oil in the room and that seemed to keep them at bay this winter/spring. With the raise in temps as of late I had to unplug it and wilkum ze mite onslaught unfortunately. I will build a swamp cooler asap I'm hoping.

Alright I'm just gonna go ahead and throw this out there,
kick back and watch the controversy begin... :smoker:

Here's the thing, I try`d "Everything" they sell at the hydro store,
neem oil included, I probable spent some where around $500.00 on
various "sure fire" remedies with limited success. They would go away
for a while and I'd be all... "Victory is mine" :nanana: and don't come back !
Well they`d be back alright and mind you not from a lack of hygiene, I
would scrub my rooms down with all the fury of a crazed man hell bent
on destruction, bleach, sprays, wipe'n and polish'n till my hands bleed !

Only too find them back several weeks later... :chin: !
Sooooooo, finally after admitting defeat ( first step to recovery)
I went and consulted an old trusted friend who just happens too
work at a large (legit) nursery that grows millions of dollars worth
of flowers, shrubs, trees, etc... I asked him "WTF do you guys use
to protect your investments" sooooooo, he told me and gave me some.

Now before anyone starts freak'n out, I only used it in very early
vegg stage, after I lightly spray'n down my spotlessly clean room.

Bam, bam... the old one, two punch ! No more mites !

If worse comes to... I'll call in some big guns but both dem chemi's are from Solaris/ Monsanto... ubersketchy...

I've been wanting to make my own pyrethrin. from wiki: pyrethrins are a pair of natural organic compounds normally derived from Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium. Although pyrethrin is a potent insecticide, it also is an insect repellent at lower concentrations.

here's one way eh...

thanks carlos! the painted daisies in my yard started blooming about 2 days ago

i have a question ...... why don't you install a whole house swamp cooler? i saw a side draft/window unit at home depot today and thought about what you have going on. they are not that pricey and i bet you could get it up and running in a day.

mrs. carl (if there is one) would love you for it as much as your green girlfriends

Greenmatter glad to see ya! Bloomin season is def upon us! I'd love to have a window swamp gnasty but haven't had the funds to toss at one:( Luckily my house is on a geothermal system and it is never above 72 inside where my veg room be:) The flower room is out back in the mancave which could def use a swamp cooler, kegerator, flatscreen tv......!!! Soon enough a wiseman once said.

calientecarlos, thanks for the nice welcome, i look forward to reading more about the environemtnal conditions you face and how to cope with them.

lilgreen sprout you are right there is some shit stirring there, but besides saying that I wouldn't use chemicals (bleach, pesticide, fertilizer, etc.) in the garden voluntarily theres not much more to add or argue about i suppose. It's a matter of principle based on the way i view plants growth in their environment, plants response to stress, and i will choose botanical solutions when ever i can. In the case of thrips and mites botanicals have eradicated them in my garden but again thats just IMO. Sorry if that seems long-winded or argumentative. Botanicals have their limitations but utilized the right way/time can be tremendously effective and the only reason they are not used in many commercial green houses are the scientific formulations of botanical oils cost more to apply than chemicals.

different strokes i guess

definitely and I have been there just like green sprout was, buying hundreds of $ worth of products at the hydro store, azadirachtin extracts, botanicals, nothing kept the spider mites off. Then I learned that neem oil and especially the certified organic brands (not dynogro) actually contains over a dozen compounds that damage or destroy harmful insects in the garden, especially spider mites, while neem extracts only contain one- azadirachtin an antifeedant but by no mean the most lethal compound found in the oil. It's a matter of utilizing neem oil correctly which is where many misconceptions arise and maybe its better left to another place/time
peace

here's a patent I read that leads me to believe PBO and CNO could be awesome together...

"The present invention is summarized in that conditions are described wherein the pest control activity of Pyrethrum can be increased synergistically when Pyrethrum is formulated either with azadirachtin, at a weight ratio of between 0.02 and 1 part per part of Pyrethrum, or with clarified neem oil, at a weight ratio of between 0.1 part and 100 parts per part of pyrethrum, or is formulated with both azadirachtin and clarified neem oil, in the above weight ratios."

here's the link...
