Colorado House Bill 1284

Oh and to further complicate matters I got a letter from our bank, TCF, stating they no longer will be doing medical marijuana accounts and we have to shut our account by June 30th. How am I supposed to pay sales tax, licensing fees, etc... when we don't even have a bank account?!!!!!!! I just opened the thing in April in an attempt to get in compliance, now they don't want my cash??? How fucking stupid is that???? I swear I will walk into the State building with 10K in cash to license my off-site grow if I don't figure something out! Maybe I will convert it to pennies! Here's your 10K in pennies, maybe we can organize a group to all show up with wheelbarrows!

If anyone has a bank to recommend send me a PM please.

OH, and before someone asks, 10K is a made up number, I don't know what the fee will be for an off-site grow, that is a number that's been discussed, but I don't know for sure.

Ouch man, that sucks.

wells fargo is still a no. they are happy to continue taking large deposits from those that they already service, but no new accts. i'm beginning to wonder if they are going to make us pay for our licenses with a biz acct check, right after they pressured the banks to close our accts? they are certainly slimey enough.

wow may bee some finance imagination is in order

See there is something you need to get through your head. 90% OF US THAT HAVE MOVED OUT TO DO THIS WANT TO DO IT LEGAL! WHY WOULD I MOVE 1800 MILES ALWAY FROM ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO DO THE SAME ILLEGAL SHIT IVE BEEN DOING FOR 12 FCKING YEARS

The last thing this scene needs is people coming out here thinking its the wild west and not wanting to play by the rules. You make us all look bad and image is 100% of what needs to change in this business.

It sucks how average Americans are so "fat, dumb and happy" that they allow their government to trample on their rights without much protest. Makes it much more work for those of us that actually DEMAND our constitutional rights. No cop will ever receive permission to enter my dwelling without a warrant regardless of what I am doing inside.

Hoss - I agree 110%. I would never let cops in my house for any reason without a warrant! Nor would I be duped by repeated knocking to just open the door. Plenty of stories on this site of people who were busted for just that... letting the cops in without a warrant which led to cops returning with a search warrant at a later time. People who think that the cops are friendly will just have to learn the hard way when they are being arrested and prosecuted. As I was told by multiple attorneys, "Even though you are legal per the state, a state employed LEO can turn your case over to the Feds at any time." Hence why the lawyers are saying no firearms.

Stay safe everyone! :hotbounce

Can banks closing accounts because MMJ is involved be seen as a violation of the civil rights act? Also, there should be doctor patient confidentiality if you're growing for yourself as well, right? Would love to see banks getting sued to hell.

according to hb1284, money laundering is less serious of an offense than growing marijuana

you could be guilty of laundering $ and are still welcome with open arms in this indusrty, but not if you have been caught growing marijuana

on top of that, if our gov't doesn't want caregivers tax $$$'s anymore, then maybe cargivers just need to charge their patients for consulting services so that they can get paid for their hard work? that sure beats "laundering" :D and is more legal than laundering

When you open an account at pretty much any bank they make you sign a form saying you waive any of those rights and they can close your account for any reason, so no, you can't sue them.

I've been told to find a really small bank, with one or two branches soley based in Colorado, preferably not part of the FDIC, and I will have better luck.
