Kellie - I think the stems have to snap instead of folding over when you bend them to go into jars.

I use digi ballasts so heat is not a big issue from ballasts :)

Hey ya'll. Check out these pictures my buddy in Iraq took:

OMFG!!!

I think I mentioned it in this thread earlier on...but you know us...memory is shot. lol

Grow Your Own on Bellaire a half block South of Evans is an awesome shop. Great guys. Prices are ridiculous. $14.something with tax for a large bag of Ocean Forest. Best price I've seen anywhere...including Way to Grow, The Big Tomato and Denver Hydroponics.

Shop is small. But a lot of times they'll order stuff for you if they don't have it in stock.

90% of my local business goes to them. The other 10 to Denver Hydro. The Big Tomato no longer gets my business.

I shop at GYO!!!...nice guys...know their shit!!

It's a no nonsense shop. Their business approach is different. They're trying to move as much as they can. They do this by making their prices really low. The more they move...the more discounts they get from their vendors. It's a different approach. But their prices are just ridiculous.

Plus me and my friends just like being there. They will shoot the shit happily with you for lengths at a time.

The Big Tomato...those guys made me feel like an asshole every time I went in there. Like I was a burden. The final straw was when I went in there and asked if they had an extension cord for my ballast. Guy says, "We don't carry extension cords for that brand because we don't carry them anymore. Their ballasts are shit.". And proceeds to go into a diatribe about how my ballast is a piece of shit.

My response was, "Thanks". I walked out...and have never been back.

Too bad...I was looking to get a bulb, a max fan, a bunch of soil and some other odds and ends. Lost out on probably $7-800 from me that day...and probably thousands over time.

They're having a big sale today at Way to grow, I 25 and 56th. I think it was like 20 - 25% off, plus free bulbs if you're buying a complete setup etc.

I live near 'The Grow Store'.
But I don't go there anymore now that WTG has a Denver location.
The bitches at The Grow Store are just that, BITCHES! They sit behind the counter not helping anyone and it takes them 10 minutes of looking at you to realize you're ready to check out. The guys there can be cool, but the place is stocked with BITCHES, ugly to boot. And their prices suck.

I like WTG, they are still filling out the Denver location, but the guys know their shit (most of the time). They will still sell you shit you don't NEED, just like most places, unless you tell them you want the bare essentials.

I have heard good things about Grow Your Own from a few people, will have to check it out one day.

I don't fuck around with Boulder/Denver Hydroponics. Had a buddy who had gone there for years, spent countless thousands of dollars and the bitches still wouldn't give him a discount.
Took him to WTG and got discount the first day.

"The Grow Store" does suck...no one there is knowledgeable, takes forever to get outta there, much less someone to help you. Went for lime and walked out with an unlabeled bag, which they told me was lime, but was when I got home it was silt, WTF?

I go to "Let It Grow"-- I know everyone there and they know their shit, you get treated like a human, and they don't try to push products on you that you don't need. Respect!

I don't shop WayToGrow...I don't use canna so why bother? Went once and they charged me for the super size of the PH crystals, had to drive my ass back up there to get my bucks back...and what, no "sorry"..Way to suck-balls.

I've been to WTG there prices were meh. People seemed nice enough. I just got the vibe that they were like the Wal-mart of grow stores. And I just don't do Wal-Mart. Plus I went in for soil, and they were considerably higher than GYO.

The guys at GYO are stuck with me and my buddies.

I just wish one of these Hydro shops would set up a order desk where I could call and place my order and go pick it up when it's ready. I know exactly what I want, and how much it costs, I buy the same amount of each item every couple months. I don't want to stand behind some guy who's asking what the difference is between MH and HPS or do I really need a glass lense for my light!!!! I usually spend about 40 minutes placing my order, and then have to come back again in a week, because no place has 20 liters of Hygrozyme. Why is that? Am I really the only person in the whole state that buys enough stuff to last for two months at a time?
Oh, and they should know me, and know what discount I get without me asking, why is that so hard??????? I call in, I place my order, I give my customer number, they say, "Holy shit Mr. Spleefman, you've spent $5,000 dollars here in the last 6 months, your discount is 20%!"
That's what I want, I don't care what the shop is called, I would go to THAT PLACE in a heartbeat.

Way To Grow definitely has the 5 gallon hygrozyme buckets, I've bought one before and they actually have a new system the more you spend the better your discount. Don't get a discount? Ask for one. I go to Way to Grow because I know they are going to have what I need. And if they don't, another order is already on it's way. I mean come on what other hydro shop can fill an order for 500 lights in stock? (It's happened).

Where do you usually go?

I've been going to The Grow Store since 1999. I know, booooooo!

They give me the 20% everytime, no matter how much I purchase, and I used to shoot the shit with the owner, but he doesn't come in anymore, and I'm a lot older now, myself.
I will check out Way to Grow... aren't they in the Fort? Is there one in the Denver Metro area?????

The 20% has been really significant..... usually a couple hundred an order, so it ads up!

I still think someone should set up an express store, phone in, and go pick it up, like Grainger, or Johnstone Supply. Or like any supply shop, for any other industry. I have accounts at both Grainger and Johnstone, just for HVAC stuff. No sense paying Hydro store markups for stuff you can get cheaper elsewhere.

What hood are you getting for $230? My Radiant 8's were $150, before the discount.......... I love em!

If they are cool to you, then great. They just weren't cool to me.
I think there are many people certain stores are cooler to than others.
It just depends.
