CO2

Nice- Damn that's a big one, like a nitrous tank! I got a 15lb job, it's about 2ft or so. It's also about 20 to fill. Around here it seems all sizes cost the same, 5lb, 10lb or 20 - all the same price to fill pretty much. A 5ft could certainly last a long long time, depending on room size obviously. Just make sure you got the washer in the coupler. I have forgotten to put it in there before and the tank leaked out pretty quickly.

The alternatives I brought up for those that can't afford co2 presently and still wish some extra co2 in there. Actually it is less efficient in the long run, a tank for smaller spaces is far more economical. Larger spaces can use either tanks or a generator (these produce too much co2 and heat by products for smaller spaces, and raise the humidity to boot!) Oh and if you're concerned "what" to say as to why you have a co2 tank; you could have a plant aquarium and they need co2 to live, as the fish don't provide enough. The old soda fountain works as well.

So what do they require for them to "loan" you the tank besides the deposit? They ask for ID as well?

I have a generator but it's WAAAAAAAAY too big for my space, I have the temps under control with my A/C but it pushes my co2 levels way higher than I need them.

Need to sell it and get a tank setup  :D

Hey Rack - The answer to your questions, at least in my instance, is that you have to have an empty tank to swap out for the refilled one. I got a 20lb tank off of Ebay (used) for $40.00. New ones sell between $115.00 - 140.00 from what I found. Also, no they do not ask for ID when getting a refill. At least they don't at the two places I have gone to. I also pay about $20.00 for a refill.

For those of you contemplating a tank setup, I caution you to be careful what kind of tank regulator you buy. The ones that you see for aquariums have too low of a flow rate to be of any benefit for growing (even in a small closet or grow cabinet). From talking with the people at Green Air, you want the room to fill as quickly as possible to avoid lengthy CO2 cycles. Even the ones that Hydrofarm puts out at too low. The one they claim to be for an extra large grow space (up to 3000 cu. ft.) only has a maximum flow rate of 2 cu. ft per hour. Green Air's regulator and Optimum Growth's (the brand I bought) have a flow rate of up to 20 cu. ft. per hour. My flower closet is 104 cu. ft. and Green Air's CO2 charts show that I needed a flow rate of 10 cu. ft per hour for one minute of dispersion to get 1500 ppm. Most of the regulators that I found on Ebay were far less than 10 cu. ft. flow rate. So, just be aware of what you need and get the proper equipment for it!

Here is a good place for tanks. They run ads on e-bay a lot but here they are direct. I simply cannot wait for Tex to do some grows with co2 enrichment, I as well as a few others here already know how much it help with overall yield, And in the hands of a master grower such as TK the results I predict will convert many others to come.

Mr.Wags

Convert? convert who? everyone KNOWS co2 works, the only thing stopping everyone from using it is either you can't control the heat or seal off the room or it's too much money.

I get what you're saying, Mr wags; most folks think adding some decent nutes and loads of light w/o too much heat/humidity is all you need tyo do, WRONG all I repeat ALL plants need co2 for life/growth. Once the plant(s) exhaust the ambient co2 growth STOPS! So it isn't something to contemplate is it?
Growth will increase 30%+ with added co2 as the plant gets a complete diet if you will to grow. You added more light and more ppms to get a larger yeild but if you forget or decide not to add co2 you are actually holding back your yeilds.
Rack is correct in the reasons many don't have it, but as explained, all those without should correct this "weak" link!!! A 20# er in LA is around 16 dollars to refill, its cheaper to "own" the tank in the long run, used but certified for 5 years cost 75 or so for a 20#er in LA area.
