CO2, Ventilation, and You

running a cd-3 generator on cycle stat with a just a fan and 600 hps no hood on a light mover. the room is 7by 7 by 7 a shed so venting is thru vents on side. i just turn off gas line during day as running 12-12 evening to morning.I set the cycle stat for 4 minutes as the pilot looks substantial maybe 1/4 1/5 total output of 2300 b.t.u.so far my temps were running an hour into cycle 80,and 11 hours in 84.keeping my ballast outside and running one fan.seeing that the controllers and co2 monitors are expensive.was wondering whats a cheap way to monitor co2?hoping to keep my temps around 78 when i get a fan installed maybe with some bug screem hoping to achieve some consistancy in co2 without having a a/c vent cycle by running at night .also co2 sinking and hot air rising hope to still have some to consistancy .maybe also venting cold air thru bug screen by draft.
a cool example of natural ventilation was an old hotel built before a.c. a central atrium column with four feeder openings when opened provided a natural cooling draft to guests.
also I installed a reverse osmosis machine before tackling running a natural gas line towards shed i had rough ly 40 feet of 1/2 inch pipe with three 45 elbows and 18 inch section to get pipe low and water heater closet with out being overly visibly conspicuous.
all ican say is measure out your runs be prepared to need extra unions and 45 elbows with nipples and etc to have runs close to walls and not be tripping hazard. always clean threads use an approved pipe sealent with teflon, and have at least 1 pipe wrench vise grips, and preferably 2 pipe wrenches.do not tackle this job with pliers or a crescent wrench!
ok apply compound to threads if under 3/4 which pipe coming off water closet gas dryer is 1/2 inch, hand tighten until no longer able to do so .now if your a weak individual after hand tightening go 2 full turns if you have some hand strength 1 full turn after hand tightening is suffecient.
alright when near the end of your desired linerun a gas shut off valve then a one more pipe length of your desire to thread on natural gas meter which also is applied with compound. to make sure everything is gas tight put a cap on end of line turn on gas and check each union with a mixture of 70 percent detergent soap and 30 percent water .if you are strong and don't scrimp on applying compound and tightning you will be fine as i was.
one note before starting anything hopefully you already have a gas shut off valve to attach piping to without opening existing piping.next worst is what i had a t section capped (save that cap you will need it for safety check later!)off.the gas line was flowing to water heater after a shut off ball valve,so ihad to relight water heater later .after removing cap thread pipe keep low and close to walls make a hole in closet door with drill or saw keep low!
next worst thing is to have to remove an elbow shut off of gas line to install a t to make a new gas line gas valve.as before measure your dimensions SHUTOFF GAS!and make sure you have enough material without having toforce things everything should be able to hand tthread and tighten if you are forcing something or it doesn't align reexamine what you are doing, and try again if you can' t make it work put the original part backs while applying compund check for leaks and you are good to go!safety checking you unions is a good way to insure you dont blow yourself up!wish i could show some pics!
