CO2 security

A tank a week, wow. Couldnt you have just gotten a recirculating a/c unit to use with your ng unit so you can keep your room cool in the summer?
I would definitely not be using bottled co2 if i had to refill once a week. That's way too many trips to the air gas place. After seeing you there so often, no wonder the clerk was making small talk.
For the OP, if you have to refill more than once every couple of months, i'd suggest a co2 generator. More economical: get a $15 tank of propane, the same one you use for gas grills, one propane tank will generate like 50 lbs of co2 (i think it's a 3 to 1 ratio of propane used to co2 generated but dont quote me on that, it could be even more).

I had actually 4 tanks so I would be in there once every 3 weeks, I thought of the AC unit but the problem with that is that with everything I had going already, I was running really close on my watts adding an AC unit would of blown fuses for sure, plus it really was not that big of a deal like I said I only used the bottled Co2 for at the most 2 months out of every year. But still it was enough for me to stop and think of a good story.

Ah, I see. That makes more sense, if you're only growing 2 months out of the year.
Although I think, with co2 generators, isn't it possible with some models to install it outside the grow area, and then use hoses that will lead the co2 to the grow area? That way you don't have heat problems in your grow.

Probably a moot point anyway, I think we've established that no one at the air gas store really cares why you need co2. But I also wonder if cops sometimes park outside the air gas store like they sometimes do with the hydro store.

I'm thinking no, because probably the majority if not the vast majority of customers at the air gas store are legit. Something that can't always be said of the hydro store (don't see too many people buying expensive supplies just to grow tomatoes...).

I use a 5-lb tank for my planted aquarium, and get it refilled at an indie pet store. Before that though, I went to a welding place, they never asked.

Yeah, that big metal tank is pretty fishy looking: in this day and age, people might be thinking 'bomb'. They don't know that it's not filled with flammable gas...
I usually just put a towel around my tank when i'm carrying back and forth to my car. Thank goodness none of my neighbors have seen me... :rasta:

there are so many reasons you could be filling co2 tanks, the last thing anyone is thinking is that it is for your indoor marijuana grow. most people outside of the grow or horticulture scene have no idea people use co2 to help their grows.

it could be for your keggerator, welding, paintball tank refills, etc.

all this paranoia is hilarious

A co2 tank is not suspicious, it has a lot of uses. However, bringing a new one home every week might seem suspicious. I don't understand though, how did you all get your equipment in your house in the first place?

I would never carry a 4x8 table into my house through my front door, or a 1000w ballast, reflector, 6 gallon bottles of nutrients - this is just asking for problems. For that reason, I wouldn't bring the co2 bottle in through the front either. Unless you live in an apartment or something, do you not have a garage?

I pull my vehicle in with the tank inside it, close the garage door, then do what I want with it. This would be your best bet. If you have a detached garage, or no garage or your garage is cluttered and your car won't fit (THEN CLEAN IT OUT, IT IS MADE FOR YOUR CAR, NOT YOUR CRAP!) then your best bet is to get more of the smaller tanks, and wait until night, then carry them on it.

You should look into something before you start spouting off about it.

I've played paintball for a long, long, time and it is EXTREMELY common for team managers to buy a few 50lb tanks, as well as field owners, shop owners, etc.

if you are using the larger canisters to remotely fill c02 into smaller bottles, you need the valve inside the tank to include a siphon tube. So if you go in there lieing about it and they realize it, you are just being way more sketchy.

just fill the shit and forget about it. if someone asks you about it, which they wont. say its for growing fruits and veggies at home for your mom who has terminal cancer. With that stunner, dude will totally forget about asking questions.

its just common sense to not get baked and go into places when you are working on your operations. Thats just a novice move, like driving around keeping your personal nug in a dr hornbys big bud container in the glove box or some shit.

if you are noided, smoke some more and just take it to different places each time. its 08 and even in ancorage alaska you can get that shit filled on every corner.

i used to say it was for the engineering department at work when they asked me.

switching to a generator eliminated that pain in the ass. unless the room is sealed tighter than a nunns butthole, it leaks out and constantly needs refilled. the regulators freeze up without a heater, and its just easier and less of a hassle to get a co2 generator. one tank has lasted me 5x as long as those bottles did, and its no where near as sketchy and hard to get it filled at any hour of the day.

you notice its out on friday night at 3am, go to gas station or convienient store/ drive thru and get it filled or exchanged. The welding gas joints are open banker hours and are too "hot" if you are going in there 2 times a week, not to mention the stuff is a rip off filling it that often

just tell them you brew your own beer then you can come every week and refill no problem

you might save a buck by just going to your local fire extinguisher refill location.
