C02 is like 18 bucks for 20 lbs.. Yes, your levels might not reach 1500 for very long but it's better than nothing.

applefarmer, get more use out of your inline by losing all the duct, put the inline closer to light, and lose all the extra ducting, and i bet you get alot cooler temps, your creating drag w all the excess ducting

its easier for air to go in a straight line rather thantwisting and turning around corners in your duct.
Also i was thinking of what keeps co2 at ground level, then it hit me.
Build a small green house inside the room. I dont know if greenhouse Glass panels are a certain type i just know they keep the co2 inside.

Applefarmer....Why in the world would you buy a portable AC knowing that it exhausts air? Sounds like you didn't do your homework very well. Also, that air your exhausting cannot be scrubed so good luck with oder control. At this point your only option is a split system AC but if having a compressor outside is not an option then that's out as well. I would just forget about CO2 for now.

Swimmer, thanks for the encouragement...I got a great deal on the AC(its used) and I was so busy with other shit it just sliped my mind....but the real truth is, I FUCKED UP! lol
No really though, this is just a 'lil chink in the armor.
There is a solution and I will find it! :chin:

CO2 and exhaust

CO2 and exhaust

i push cool air from outside the room through the lights (w/ glass) and out again. if theres any leaks, cool air will leak into the room, nothing leaks out.

ive heard the matador CO2 moniter is the "cutting edge" for control. it can keep your room at whatevef CO2 you want it at (1500-1800 ppm) and disables the CO2 in the dark.

presently i have my CO2 on a repeat cycle timer that activates the burner (greenair cd6) for the prescribed amount of time to fill the room, and activates exhaust/intake fans for the rest of the hour. i am learning that perhaps this is old technology and i am wasting my CO2. this is why exactly i have become interested in sealing my room.

the split system a/c seems rather space consuming, and where i live noone has a/c units outside. do all portable a/c's exhaust hot air?

Yes, you are wasting your co2. You should NOT have the exhaust/intake hooked up to the cycle timer when the co2 is not being generated. The foliage of the plant breathes in CO2 and produces oxygen. The only reason that you need to exhaust the air in your grow room while using co2 is if your temps or humidity get to high. If you are using the green aire cycle timer the off co2 generating cycle is for room circulation not intake/exhaust. Intake /exhaust is very important if you do not have added co2. Intake/ exhaust with co2 is for regulating temps and humidity.
I made the same mistake until I understood that the roots needed O2, not the plant, the plant produces O2 but needs CO2.

You can also put a clear plasctic bag over your plant and pump with co2 and oxygen until it ballons up. I have never tried this before, but it seems like it would work.

My understanding is that 4000ppm is a toxic level so I'd sure want to monitor how concentrated it is if you did it that way. Not that it wouldn't work, you'd just have to be careful.

I have to have the extra length in the hose to adjust the height of the lamps(about 7ftof space) I could adjust the positioning of the fan so it is in a straighter line though.
I will be extending the intake through the joining wall to have a constant source of cool air flowing through the hoods. The way it is set up now the outside room heats up after a few hours of the lights being on, droping the effectiveness of the fan. If I can consistently keep the grow room @ 85, I will ditch the AC.

without exhausting my room will get too hot. and the smell will penetrate the walls. i am using an intermatic cycle timer that a gro-shop sold me for the purpose. the idea was to fill the room with 1500 PPM CO2 then exhaust.

apple farmer i may have a solution

apple farmer i may have a solution

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portable_air_conditioners
explains that DUAL hose units exchange their own air and dont exhaust from w/in the room

http://howstuffworks.com/ac.atm shows that window units dont exhaust.
another i dea i have is to use a window unit mounted near the ceiling with a plenum that directs the hot air up into the attic, or a plenum adapted down to a hose.

am i using the word "plenum" right? anyway i think you get the idea.

Boy do I know how thoses Green Aire CO2 generators can produce heat along with the co2. I made the mistake of trying to pull the air through the hoods from the floor back down to under the floor.Wasn't doing any good so I vented it as short as I could straight up through the ceiling and wa la, only heat from the light was radiant and the room was controllable. At least for now, we'll see what summer brings on.
