Thing I found with both STS & CS is if the silver on the bud is weak, it'll grow nannas. They produce hernies (more proportionally).
If you hit it hard with the spray it'll grow balls (not nannas) and that'll be the pollen for fem seed.

Sometimes when I self, I'll hit a branch with a slight overspray. that almost always goes nannas. When that happens I'll clip and toss that branch to avoid the hermies. The rest is all good.

Store bought (if clean, not flavored or added ingrediants) will work. BUT, you need to hit it often and hard (cha-ching $$$).

$10 on Ebay will give you enough 99% pure silver wire to last a really long time.
Think I got 12 inches for $7.50-ish shipped.
