What about florida nursery growers rooting in full sunlight with mist/sprinklers? It is not the light, it is the heat and loss of water that is the problem.

I don’t know, never heard of that nor am I a commercial grower or botanist. I just know what works for me from trail and much prior error.

Wow.

I have so much to learn. Thank goodness that IC is such a fountain of information and advice.
Much love and thanks.

And keep in mind, once you root the clone, youre not done. The clones need to be 'hardened" ...Meaning, you gradually give them more light and less humidity over a few days. If you take them from the dome to full light and no humidity in one move they will most likely fall over in shock. good luck

He will learn Ick .... He is just trying to tell you what works bro and he is right by all the documentation out there. To much light on cuts make them want to produce leafy material and not roots, in other words you do not want them trying to produce vegative material right now but roots.

Good Luck

The ? ask was Can you root under 400watt hps.... Not what is best. I have rooted under a 400 hps as my veg box was not done so I had to use my 2nd room for mom's and clones as well as seedlings. They all grew fine. My tray covers are scratched and dirty so not as much light gets through. I mist my clone with plain water 5 times a day or more if I'm doing anything. Tunefull you don't mist clones :chin: never tried that, but hey what ever works for you

Hi stoned silly
"The ? ask was Can you root under 400watt hps.... Not what is best."

He did at the bottom tho ask for advice on his approach(or somit like that)
So the answers were based on that(sorry not trying to be picky)

No i dont mist my clones(but i do mist the dome once a day)

I'm a dome mister not a clone mister lol,a great thing for getting cuttings to root well is give the donor plant a shot of bloom fert,I use tiger bloom several hours or the day before taking cuttings.Phosphorus is what they need and humidity, look at the NPK ratings of Olivia's cloning products and you'll see the P doubles the N and K.

I went to a local establishment and picked up some Olivia's Gel (funny you should mention it), organic grow plugs (like organic rockwool), and a tray with a dome.
Now to get some good scissors and all I have to do is worry about shading them under the 430w.

bostrom - After reading that thread I will be returning my forementioned purchases and heading to the dollar store. Thanks, if only I'd seen it before I opened my Olivia's :/

chewmauro if you keep your dome make sure not to mist the cuttings themselves, just keep the inside of the dome well misted.I use a dome and mist it a few times a day for the first week, humidity is the most important thing at this point. After 7 days I'll start removing the misted dome twice a day for maybe 5 minutes at first, letting them acclimate slowly to the outside.I almost always have roots on day 10 doing it this way

Hey chew, yea it should be a sticky, would save people time and money, wish i'd known earlier too. I think i might try to use a dome, I'm getting clones in 7-10 days without
