I recently topped my scrog and decided it would be a good time to learn cloning rather than ditching the cuttings. I went out and bought rockwool cubes, a humidity dome, and some rooting hormone. I followed the general directions I found online. I soaked the rockwool cubes in distilled water, then added a bit of Fox Farms big bloom (I think it was big bloom, maybe it was tiger bloom...it's the brownish one) and then ph'd it. I read that a low dose of the nutes in the cubes will help rooting, that's why I put it in. Otherwise I've read that you really just don't mess with the clones and play the waiting game. Here's the situation: Roughly 5 days in probably 3-4 out of 11 clones had browned leaves at the top, they were completely dried out and dead. I chalked it up to bad luck and continued to let them sit. Now we're at day 10 and I'm starting to get some yellowing of some leaves of some of the other un-screwed-up clones. I've been using the pipette squeeze tube from my ph kit to drip water straight distilled water onto the cubes the last few days to keep them from going dry. I've also taken off the humidity dome and taken to pouring straight distilled water in the bottom of the tray so the bottoms of the cubes can stay moist. I guess I was expecting roots by now? Any thoughts, advice, etc?
Also, I'm going on a trip for 3 days over this holiday weekend and won't be around. Will the clones be ok during that time? Should I maybe put the humidity dome back on while I'm gone since I won't be around to drip water the tops of the cubes if need be?
