cloning in power cloner and moldly stems

G

What would cause the clones to mold and the stems become soft and fold over turning to slush. The clones are 7 days old. I used 7 gallons with 80ml of hydrogaurd and 30ml of power cloner. Water is at a ph of 5.9. I am not sure of the water and room temp of the humidity. HELP

It sounds like you need to scrap the Hydroguard. Maybe try hydrogen peroxide at the rate of 30ml/gallon of water.

i think it might have been from having the dome on . the air wasnt moving around .i read somewhere that the power cloners doesnt need to have the dome on while cloning . i could be wrong about the dome thing .

That's true.........but lots of growers use enclosed cloners and don't have problems. I read that Hydroguard is having problems getting reapproval from the USDA. I don't know why though, but that is food for thought. I've been where you are and it sucks, so I wish you good luck.

ya, your right it sucks . i guess it part of learning . i just wish it wasnt at my expense

Ya, you shouldn't need a dome with that system. Just a small air flow across them, no dome. Very small air flow, not enough to make the leave more than twitch now and then or at all. I have no clue why they would supply a dome with it :( Shouldn't have to mist them either.

Good luck

i lost another one today . it looks like stem root .maybe from having them in the water . i dont know.

There's no such thing as too much water. Only too little air. Water temps should be 75º-80º F (note:clones only. Rooted plants prefer 65º-68º). Wouldn't hurt if the room was similar. I've cloned dome-free with as little as 15% RH.

Don't forget, it's all Voodoo. What works for some is death for others. KEEP TRYING!

im not sure of the water temps,i put the cloner in a hydro tent the other day . the tent is climate control room temps are 76.
i only use 7 gallons . if you put 8 gallons and try to move the cloner the water spills out . i only use 7 ,7 gallon of water.

Wouldn't hurt to spend $1.29 on an aquarium thermometer. At 65º I lost everything. It wasn't till I maintained 75-80 that I had success.

i thanks for the advivce . i put one in the other day but i forgot to check it .
the tent temps run 76 , so im guessing the water temps might be a point or two more than tens temps .the tent has a diy cool tube 400wt mh hooked to a 250 blower that sucks through the light and the blows out a scrubber and a 265 squirel cage fan to push cool air in .

If pH and temps are in range, I'd suspect the dome of causing dangerously high RH levels, a known cause of stem rot.

Swampy soil can do the same because it doesn't drain, thus failing to suck in new oxygen to the roots. I've been germing in completely saturated Rockwool for years. Because the nutes are highly oxygenated, water evaporating out the top of the cube sucks new oxygen up from below.

If in fact, excessive moisture is the culprit, the dome is the most likely cause. A hole in the top coupled with propping open the dome will give you some airflow and allow for some control over RH levels.

i took the dome off when i put the tent . the tent has fresh air going in and the going out. i dont get it .

If it makes you feel any better; I'm having problems with my power-cloner (Botanicare). I was getting 100% failure, the clones (leaves) would just turn brown after awhile.
I have since thoroughly cleaned the cloner with bleach and put a fresh batch of clones in it and as of today its been 10 days and still no roots. I use 10 ml/gal of Hydroguard with Green fuse root stimulater, and still no roots. I've used it with just straight water as well. The water temps are exactly what they've been from the very first time i used it. The first 2 times i used the cloner i got 100% succes, now i get nothing but head-aches and dead clones. Fucked up my whole perpetual outdoor grow.
I have back-up clones in coco right now so we'll see...
I feel your pain bro :joint:

man that sucks . i know how you feel .
i screwed up big time the other day .i was checking the water temps and forgot to turn the pumps back on . the pumps wher of about 1or 2 days. i was looking earlier and they were drooping over and wilting .
DO you think they will come back .

20 clones out of 45 . thats all thats left out 45 . the stems got mushy and no roots . i had pulled all of the bad ones that got mushy .
