cloning-100% perlite or rapid rooter?

perlite, its just so simple, put it in thebottom of a sandwhich box, put in some water, place in the clones, put on the lid, open everyday or so.

took 5 days for my white widow to root in perlite.

that's a cool method:yes:, i use Rapid Rooter but i may try this way out of curiosity next time i'm taking clones as i've got a massive bag of perlite i bought a year ago (100 litres) hardly used any of it, how much water are you putting in there?, doesn't the water sit at the bottom of the sandwich box? or do you just sprinkle a little water now and again?

peace

This is what i'm doing this run, i like the perlite wick cloner and now i just set the plug in the perlite and wait for roots. basically no maintenance. Just check the water every once in a while

I have to agree.

This works with just a cup. I used a 6oz clear plastic solo cup with perlite in it. Filled it to within an inch of the rim with perlite and added water until a half inch was standing in the bottom.

Shoved a 2" clone into the perlite and taped a second cup to the top with 2 small pieces of tape.

Blew into it once a day through the crack between the cups.

5 days later I had roots. :woohoo:

Same thing works with a shallow tupperware tray and lid. Just make sure you poke a bunch of holes in the lid to match the ventilation in your area.
(You want the humid air from the perlite to rise up around the plant and not get blown away, but you still want it to exchange with fresh air at a gradual pace. How's THAT for a runon sentence!?)

I have used rapid rooters for the last 5 years or so and have great success with them. Sometimes I only get 50 percent to root and sometimes I get about 80 percent, depends on the strain and conditions. Just dont wet the rapid rooters more then 2 times a day or u will end up with a rotten stems with no roots.

I've tried Perlite, the Jiffy Peat Plugs, water bottle method and plain water, all with varying degrees of success, but the most effective method for me has been the bubble cloner. It's cheap, simple and I get close to 100% rooting everytime.

I grow in DWC without a medium using FNB @ 5ml/gal for veg and 8ml/gal for bloom.

Grow well,

simply put in say 2 inches of perlite and a half inch of water, water will then wick up to the stems.
