clones drooping

i took some clones off of my mother plant.. first time growing and first time taking clones, first time sexing my mother.. first time. anyway i took some clones, went to work, came home and checked on the grow room. my clones are all bent over.. is this normal? or is there something i did wrong.. i grow in soil.. took my cutting, cut it again on a 45 degree angle, scraped the sides of the stem and dipped it in some rooting hormone gel. then i stuck them into 16oz party cups with moist potting soil. hopefully ive given enough info for you guys to diagnose my problem

edit: relative humidity is always up in the room around 50 if not more.

BuzzBoy- What you need to do is cut a 2 liter soda bottle in half to make a humidity dome for your clones. Spray the inside of the “dome” with the water not the clone directly twice a day. I had only spotty results with soil cloning. You should try rapid rooter plugs or a the least pure pearlite as the rooting medium.

yup hes right!
clones will droop no matter what you do.....
just the thing is trying to get them to droop not as much...
have humidity around 75% and spraying the dome like maddlights said saves alot of time!

and remember one rule of thumb..... DONT PULL THEM OUT TO CHECK FOR ROOTS! lol its like telling a stoner you cant have your weed right now..... very hard indeed :)

just let them sit there, dont touch muk with them, more they are messed with they take longer to root :)

i think thats the biggest problem honestly i have seen with people not being able to root clones... cause they pull them out of there medium and check on them......

so just letting ya know so you wont get let down if something doesnt work :(

yeah thanks for the info guys. i forgot about the old 2litre bottle trick :biglaugh:

WOW this thread helped me out sooo much. Gonna follow these instructions right now.

Thanks Maddlights and MNS

I Know this is prolly wicked old but wow it helped me so much as you can see the state my clones are in right now. This is day 3.

You need a humidity dome for those girls. I keep the humidity as high as possible until the roots show. Once they root you should remove the dome. They are wilting because without roots they need to absorb moisture from the air.

They are under a humidity dome. I had the humidity around 50-60% at most times. They seemed to be drying out alot. So I cut some 2 litre bottles in half and put them over my cuttings. I can actually see some moisture on the inside of the bottles.

Its hard to be patient first time around.. worry about everything and not fully sure whats going on or whats gonna happen next lol. Lots of fun.

Thanks guys and gals

You want almost 100% humidity. This prevents water loss from the clones and they will not "droop". Your humidity dome or whatever should be foggy inside. Spray the interior and the clone till this occurs. Fishtanks make a good rooting structure. You can easily bleach them between sessions. 10 gallon tank at walmart costs $10. Cover with clear plastic wrap. A 2 tube 2' florescent shop light works well with a mixture of cool white and warm white bulbs. (40 watts total) Just set the fixture directly on the fishtank top. I am fond of 1 expensive plant bulb like sylvania gro-lux mixed with a cheap bulb. Be sure to get your rooting media very wet and use a hormone. Temps 75-86 f.

I'm not using any hormones or nutes. I'm using GMT"s Lazy method. Cut it and put it in soil and wait. They were in a big humidity dome. They are in their own 2 liter domes right now and I can see the dome fogging up. As before with the bigger dome I wasn't seeing that at all.

Heres a pic

Mist clone and dome. 1 application of fungicide spray may be beneficial with all the water floating around... I suggest daconil 2787 (chlorothalonil) from lowes, homedepot, etc...use the ornamental rate.

hey guys  ... also you DO NOT want alot of light on them clones... I would put a 23watt CFL or something around there for them...I personally use peat pellets, and at wal-mart you can get the set that comes with the trays that hold 12 cuts, and they come with a dome...best shit ever...I scrapped my bubble cloner after discovering these...i can root 2x as many clones in the same space as my bubble cloner was taking up...and the dome is the crucial part, as is not having too much light!!!
