Clone Stress Theory??

Folks,

I was wondering what you all thought about a theory I had. I recently grabbe 2 clones from a mothers finest mom we keep at my buddy's place. They were put in mini rockwool blocks with Olivias solution and placed in a humidity dome. Anyway, I had them in my spare bedroom as it gets nice and warm in there. When I went to check on the humidty levels I was shocked to see that my wife's cat somehow knocked the lid off and pulled one of the clones out of the rockwook cube. Bad Kitty.... The clone was lying on the ground and it felt a little brittle. I would say it had been sitting there drying out for at least 2.5 hours . The other clone was left untouched. I had pretty much wrote the kat one off as a fatality, however, I stuck it back in the cube and resoaked. The next day it had perked back up (the leaves were noticbly droopy before). Now 3 days later - this kitty clone is showing madd roots while the undisturbed one is only just beginning to root. The only difference is the whole kat situation.

I was wondering if somehow the stress caused the plant to throw mad roots to get any and all hydration back into it's system as quickly as possible. Do you think this is realistic? I would like to try the test again but right now I dont have the luxury due to some logistics.

Whaddya think?

I think it was the oxygen was able to get at the stalk to begin the root process. You probably just grabbed the cutting in time. Try to build a aero cloner cheap and best way to root clones imo. Good Luck Jubei

thanks for the reply

Those do look cool, and fun to build. I usually only do 2 plants due to space constraints so cloning isnt as frequent as I would like. they always make it, i attribute that to the olivias... never let me down once. the aero seems like it would cut the time to root down alot though.

What the hell, they are so cheap to do and it would be a nice little project for a lazy day. maybe this weekend~~

Hey Steelers , I had a tray of cutts awhile back , one looked like it was damping off so i pulled it , recut , and restuck it . It produced roots just like her sisters , no problems!

It seems you can be a little rough with them and have great success still. Of course care should always be taken. I have never lost one, although I do give a lot of personal attention since my numbers are small. Just a humidty dome for the first few days, 1 inch rockwool cubes, Olivias per instructions, and a little warmth.... dont oversoak and you should be golden.

I have to admit those aero bubble cloners do seem to be the best bet though!!!

Thanks for the replies.
