Clone Question

I am using the peat pellet method of cloning and clones look healthy its just been 10 days and i still can't see any roots. They are sitting under a hood w/about 60w of flouros on them. Should I actually be able to see roots throught the thin clothe before I plant?

Any info is appreciated, I just wanna make sure these clones make it!!!

thanx racketeer, put my nerves at ease. I also understand a little yellowing on the leaves is normal due to stress from the plant forming new roots?

if you're getting yellowing you may want to add a very weak nutrient mix.

generally when a clone yellows up it is because the plant is using the nutrient stored in the leaf to feed itself , instead of using nutrient from the ground / rapid rooter / rockwool etc etc (most likely because there is no nutrient available in the medium)

At this point it probably has begun making roots. Depending on the medium used it maybe a few more days before you can see em poking out tho.

Hey DB - I just had my first ever attempt at cloning about a month and a half ago and it took two weeks to see the roots through the Rapid Rooters. The Danimal kept pounding it into my head NOT to mist the leaves after the first 5 to 7 days. I misted the humidity dome but not the plants and once a day I would remove the dome and use the dome to fan the leaves for about five minutes to agitate them a bit. By not misting the leaves, this forces the roots to go out and search for the moisture. This most definitely caused the roots to come in faster than they otherwise would have. I highly recommend you give this a try. Good Luck, brotha!

Yeah, they recently hipped me to the gorw plugs at my shop...they kick ass. PHed and they got microbials in um to get rid of the tempation to add ferts...also if cloning I would tear off a little piece of another plug and stop up the grow hole to gedt a tight seal on the stem of the young clone.

I don't put my clones right under the lights, they are usually around 3 feet or more from my dual 23w CFl setup. Seems to work better than right up to the bulb.

Just my 2 cents.

still gettin the damn yellowing, wish i had a digicam so i could show you all some pics. I change the water every seven days and air it out once a day for 5 minutes...

Still haven't added nutes, im a little wary about that...

 Hey DiscoBisquick! :biglaugh: Love the handle.

I've watched your thread and replies, and scratch my head wondering - why? :chin:

Humor me for a sec - and try something. Confiscate a soft butter or margarine tub from the trash and wash it good. If you don't already have one laying around the house, get a $4 aquarium air pump and a 59 cent airstone. Now, punch a hole near the top rim of the butter tub to fit the airhose through it and attach the airstone and drop it in. Cut holes in the lid, fill it with tap water and snap the lid closed. Plug in the airpump and slide some cuttings into the holes in the lid. Keep the whole thing warm (70+ deg) and in 2-8 days you will have roots. (Check out 00420's short quick thread - http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=4355 )

IMO the quiickest easiest way to clone.

I guess I have to ask why I would want to wait that long to root.
