Yeah’ whenever I try the pure water technique they always turn to mush...!!!...

So your saying go get the sludge remover at Home Depot ...
bleach is no good ???

i use ro, not tap:tiphat: temps on rez 70-80. i don't run chillers

bleach has other chemicals added, chlorine is what you're wanting from the bleach.

hydrogen peroxide for plants is the oxidizer for this purpose
or go the natural methods i also listed

Out of rep.

Bleach is what I have on hand, I may try the barley pond clarifier next batch.

So to clear the use bleach dont use bleach situation...Dropped Cat please have you had any success with the bleach? Yesterday I poured some bleach into the water in the propagator and lo and behold...all the browning which was forming on some of the clones are all gone...
BUT NOW AM WANDERING IF IT WILL NOT HAMPER THE ROOT FORMING IN SOME WAY...
after 300 clone loss I was a bit over zealous and may be added quite a bit... the clones are still looking fine...the small rot starting on the few of them are all gone after 12 hours of bleach...
I have sprayed the top of them with sulfur to ward away any fungus/mold...I have added lots of peroxide(h2o2) to the water in the propagator...

so the question is..Dropped Cat have you had any success? what is your ratio of water to bleach ?
And does anybody knows if the bleach hamper the root formation in any way...
my research has shown me that bleach contains NaOCl(sodium hypoclorite) that is sodium, chlorine and oxygen, oxygen is good for roots, the chlorine will sanitize the water, the sodium???

more info everybody if one has it and thanks to you all...these forums are gold!!!

just had 8 out of 10 cuts root at 8 days , winter here but clone cupboard 's heat mat on flat out 24/7, heat lamp on and 2 smaller desk lamps sitting on 32c.

I clone in tap water in a solo cup. Works almost every cutting.

Once it's rooted I plant it in my recycled organic living soil and keep it under low light for a day or two. If it droops I place it in a humidome for a day or two and then repeat the process of trying to get it into the veg. If it droops it's back into the humidome. Repeat.

I've had success with this method on clones that looked terrible and shouldn't have made it.

I have a few cloners but I figured that the pumps just contribute to the heat problem. It's a lot easier to clean a solo cup too, so It's done more frequently.

Good luck man. :canabis:

Keep in mind that h2o2 is highly unstable. A sealed bottle is only good for about a year. Opened bottle about 6 months. And a contaminated bottle, by dipping a finger or a swab, even less. I only by small bottles. Usually 2 at a time and date them with a sharpie.

The upside is that it turns to water when it looses the extra oxygen molecule. So no harm done.

Although dilute solutions of hydrogen peroxide have a limited shelf life, the 35% solution (when properly stored) has a shelf life measured in years. It's also much cheaper that way (approx $3.50/gal @ the 3.5% dilute solution).

0.2 ml bleach per gal every other day, if you have an eye dropper,
then four drops per gallon.

thanks man but what do you mean by every other day? do you change the water in the propagator? or do you clone in rockwool cubes and spray them...can you clarify the meaning of every other day?? does it mean every day, or a day yes a day no? thanks man

I use glass salt shakers, one cutting per container.

The water is changed out every other day, cuttings rinsed.

I grow micro style, max cuttings 8-12 at a time.

I second the suggestion of putting the pump on a cycle timer. More o2 never hurts. Less pump heat can't hurt.
Usually when i have had mushy stems and failure it was from a lack of o2. Keep oxygen up and get them to root as quick as you can. Are you scarring the stems? It makes Clones root 2x+ faster. Even slow rooting strains. Scarring and dip in liquid hormone will root anything in a week.

I don't really use clone machines anymore since i tried oasis cubes. It's like using a machine but without a pump. They don't need a dome. Cuts never wilt even when the medium is almost bone dry. The foam seals around the stem like neoprene collar.

i do all my propagation outside in a garden shed summer and winter.
wide range of humidity and temperature affects my cuts the most in summer
winter not so bad with heat mat

keeping the environment stable helps but is only one factor
Jack Herer roots in ten days no matter the conditions, while master kush will fail using identical methods

hope its working better for you now IngFarmer
can be frustrating but don't give up
soon you will find that sweet spot and cloning difficulties will be a thing of the past
