So i been reading bout these products here and i cant find out the answer to this question.... Does anyone know how these flushing solutions actually benefit u over using r/o water? do they flush the nutes out using less h2o? Someone said that they kind of suck the plant dry of its nutes i think i heard also, but sounds like bs. I know sugar helps maintain osmotic pressure or something along the lines of osmosis. I have noticed that if i drench plants in a bunch of water, the leaves curl down and then correct themselves later on. When i use this stuff, i dont ever see that. So how does this crap actually work, what is so special bout sugar for leaching salts?

ur my buddy!

Those products will leach your nutes.

Its mostly suggested and marketed for dummy proof hydro. You see, for example clearex. Clearex is an isotonic drench solution. It "safely" leeches salt buildup. This is so people can more easily monitor and maintain a constant nute feeding. just my .02, but i think this is a way for them to recommend such high nute doseage's. Normally maxing out on nutes is not needed, but if u are constantly removing what is building up that can be used...well why dont we just bottle that up and sell it =) cha ching haha

If you feed your plants what they want and need, there is no need for using a steady supply of clearex. It claims to help avoid overfeeding and salt buildups.

it helps keep the lines clean as a whistle tho!

edit ~ it will unbind any attachment the nutes have with your roots. if you are using hydro, it will completely leach your nutes. This is extremely inefficient when using beneficial bacteria.

so how are u saying to jus use a lil clearex in with the feed every time? Also, are u saying that if u use beneficials, that u shouldnt flush completley until the end? i just use wetting agent and inline filter and lines stay pretty clean for me.

Just flush your plants with clear water and forget this bullshit, just a waste of money.

I agree with haps. Get a meter and test the runoff for a good flush. Clearex is mostly sugar water.
