Cleaning up after mites

About 4-5 months ago our last grow was canned about 1/4 of the way through the flower cycle because we had mites really bad. I told my partner that the plants needed to be sprayed down w/neem but they never did it. (they smoke the majority of the weed we harvest, so they're supposed to do the majority of the work.)
Now that we've gotten around to starting another run, we need to clean up the flower closet. What's an effective way to do that? I'm thinking to spray it down w/a strong bleach solution several times. Will this be enough? We don't have the budget to do anything expensive.
Do I need to go so far as to change the carbon in my filter as well? What about cleaning my light socket? Is it safe to just spray it down?
Thanks in advance for your help :tiphat:

Use 1 oz. of orange oil per quart of water. It will clean and kill at the same time. Just make sure to shake it while you spray.

Bleach is nasty, and unnecessary. I don't know why everyone uses it.

Do this and a side benefit is that your grow will smell awesome!

P.S. Don't spray the orange oil on your plants.

^Great idea.

Alternatively, bake the shit out of the room. 130F for 60 minutes.

Ah, the partnership. Those always last... :p

I'd add a wetting agent, like CocoWet, to the Orange Oil, and yes, agitate while spraying. Don't spray the light socket. Baking is a good 2nd measure also. Two prong. Good luck. -granger

I've used monterey garden insect spray before with good results. Literally wiped down every surface with the stuff, safe for plants as well apparently I had no issues when using it in veg a few years ago.

Whatever you do don't use Dr. Bronner's(with the orange oil) because it will congeal, and fuck up your spray bottle.

Obviously I know from experience. :)

I'd bake the room like Mikell said. I bake my rooms with a propane burner and tank. Get the floor in the room past 140F for a minimum of 30min. Repeat 3 days later 2x and then again 6-7 days after that. The room should be clean of mites at that point; unless you're bringing in mites from other unsterilized areas of the house. If you leave your equipment in the room you're baking you don't need to worry about spraying sockets, ballasts, cords etc.. it'll all bake in the room. I always clean up before and after with a strong bleach solution for safe measure. Don't burn down your house. ;)
