Clean air intake?

Currently i am bringing fresh cold air in from underneith my house is there a way to clean the air coming into the room, im trying to reduce the risk of bringing in powder mildew spores or mites and or anything else that lives outside. Can i use a charcoal filter for incoming air, would that do anything? What do others use to ensure there room stays clean and doesnt bring in unwanted outside pests?

Thanks!

You can try furnace filters (like 3M filtrete). They're designed to catch many airborne particles and allow good airflow at the same time.

Furnace filters? I was trying to find something more industrial, with a large capacity for airflow atleast 1000 cfm worth. Im not sure if that will work or not. Has anyone ever tryed using some type of charcoal filter for intake, not sure if it would catch pm spores but it might keep white flys, ants and possibly mites out? Also what about you people who use air conditioning in your room, ive heard alot of you say you have passive air intake from your AC does this also help keep your room steril?

You could try an electrostatic filter. I believe they sell them at Sears, but install them themselves. May be you could just buy the part. They would be great as they allow 99% air flow because the filter is not as dense as traditional filters and it relys on electric charge to remove particles and air borne contaminents. It is the best at removing spores and allegence next to a hepa filter. A hemp filter I think would reduce air flow too much, but I guess that is a mute point if you use an largly over powered fan. hope this helps.

I`ve been usin pantyhose and oversize vortex`s for yrs. and yrs......with excellent results I might add...But........You`d think by now that someone would`ve come up with some type of pre-filter to install in front of the intake fan that would`nt reduce cfm`s......3 sizes from 6 to 8 and 10 inch would work on any type setup.........Surely someone here has come up with a DIY prefilter?..........DHF........ :joint:

possibly if i put a panty hoe over a charcoal filter? Im trying to find something that will both last a really long time and is good enough to keep my room more steril. I dont want any homemade rigged stuff. What is the proffesional solution to this?

Hey, i just had an idea, its a little crazy and more of a joke but what if my intake was sorta a bong setup with water filtration it would be like a huge bong.

Hey. Thanks Stinky Stubb i think the airsock will do what i need!

For the rest of you here is the description of the product.

Air Sox are attached to centrifugal, inline fans and are generally used for two purposes in an indoor gardening application.

Use Air Sox for filtering air being brought into a grow room. It is important to remove as much dust, insects and fungi as possible. The Air Sox material has been designed to catch as much of these contaminates as possible with minimal restriction of the fan.

The second purpose of the Air Sox is air distribution. Typically indoor gardens would have an intake on one side of the room with an exhaust on the other. One problem with this design is that you will potentially have large temperature variances from one side of the room to the other. The Air Sox allows for more even distribution of the air across the entire garden area creating more consistent and manageable temperatures. It will distribute cooler intake air evenly across your plants.

I knew there hadta be a better mousetrap ......Thanks Stinky.....I`m concerned about reduction in flow and the length of time it takes to replace the air in my room since more changes per hour are way better than less......The air distribution they claim to change is what caught my eye before ordering a dozen if not more cuz they seem to be the shit.....but......reducing flow is not a good thing and I`d liketa hear from someone who uses these wonders of science please??????........Anybody out there having success with this product or is it brand new on the market...........The HEPA filters also.....How much airflow do they hold back?...........Thanks in advance for any info from ANYONE using these products as I`m sick of stretchin pantyhose........Also....... Are these filters washable and reusable?........PEACE........DHF........ :joint:
