.....I have known Mau of Nirvana BV for many years......in fact the first seeds in bulk that I bought from a Dutch breeder came from him many moons ago and I have asked the same questions that you have asked in the above posts.....

From my understanding Nirvana BV usually have worked with at least three prime males that they have used for many of their seedlines that have been selected from many and come mainly from what was the Positronics days......A particularly special Skunk male.......a Northern Lights male and a Haze male......these have been kept alive and been used to produce many seedlots over the years......Mau himself bred and produced the Master Kush from selected Kush parents and this won him some cups at various times......

...Mau is still searching for seedstock from various landraces out in S.E.Asia mainly these days and has been working to produce something new and exciting.....but has been held back by some recents busts that went down in Holland over the last years.......luckily enough he did not have all his parent stock in one place and has managed to re-coup most all of the genetic material seized.....

So does this mean their haze, NL, and skunk lines are 100%? Would there be less variation(as opposed to the other strains) if I got skunk, NL, or haze from nirvana?

I have read before (on OG I think) that Nirvana obtain clones of strains that float around in Holland and use them to make their seeds. Of course, this means they only have a female, but that female is (usually) the best expression of that strain. This gives them two options for making seeds, either buy a pack of seeds of that same strain and look for a male or use a known male of a different strain. It is perfectly possible to find a male that is not dominant, meaning that crosses using him will have the traits of the mother by and large. You could then inbreed for a couple of gens to produce a seedline that was very similar to the mother.

To be honest, I really don't care how Nirvana make their seeds, it is good enough (for me, at least) to know that they are cheap, reliable and produce good buds. I've never had a bad Nirvana strain and they often compare favourably to anything else I'm growing. I think there are two points to always remember about Nirvana beans though:

1. They often have more variation that is really desirable, but this isn't too much of a problem, just find the best pheno and clone it, the best phenos of a Nirvana strain will stand up against the most expensive strains. Also, they are so cheap why not buy 2 or 3 packs to ensure you find that killer pheno.

2. Sometimes you can find phenos in a Nirvana pack that are actually an improvement over the original strain, a good example is the occurence of purple phenos, I have a Purple Rhino I keep in clone form that is one of the very best strains I've ever grown or seen, a friend found a purple female in a pack of Nirvana White Rhino and crossed it to a green WR male from the same pack then inbred a couple of gens so that nearly all the plants turned out purple. It yields very big, only take 45 days, is super potent and is easy to clone, so whatever Nirvana are doing, they are producing some great genetics for sure.

You should tell your friend about seedbay, that sounds pretty interesting.

jlp those master kush nugs look nice. How long was the flowering period for them? I was thinking of either doing a kush or northern lights outside next year.

I grew the MK twice and the HK once and they all finished 60-65 days indoors. The MK is the more potent of the two and it still has the HK flavor.

Ditto, i actually think i got the cherry pheno out of a pack. I didn't think it was possible with nirvana butafter it was chopped and cured, every time i opened the jar i smelled an unmistakable fragrance of marchino cherries.

I went for years growing out Nirvana. You just cant beat the price, plain and simple.
Favs were first ak47 they sold, then became ak48, K2, and Aurora Indica.
I found White widow and bubblicious okay. I think the White Widow, was a bad batch or something cuz i only got 1 seed to go and luckily it was a female. The bubblicious, I remember i got very high ratio of males.
