Nice garden and plants OO. Good to see the Roseta Stone being grown out too. Not enough people out there keeping old genetics alive. Keep up the good work :good:

Keeping that strain alive is a dilemma so to speak... It's only an S1. I tried to self her but I'm not sure yet if the seeds are selfed or cross-contaminated by the Ciskei; the hybrid looks very similar in veg and several of the supposed S2 grow too healthy to be true. I'll see when they're in full flower.
The RS was an F1 if I'm not mistaken and hence the S1 is like a clone only and cheap reproduction; I can't keep her round in pure form cause I'm afraid I won't be able to keep cuttings ;( .
Anyway, the cured buds don't taste much, like an old carton box where some over-aged herbs had been stored inside a long time ago. She's not that vigorous in the beginning either. On the other hand, she has not too much stretch and finishes quite fast... In my opinion she's only worth to be crossed with something else ;) .

Even so it's nice to see old strains being grown out. I'm sure there were some RS F2s floating a year or two ago. You're on the SH forum aint you? They were in the store there, and I'm sure some members will have some stashed...

Sup Ornamental, I'm a little bit disappointed in the Ciskei because TopricalSeedCo is claiming a 53day flower peroid and your female almost trippled that.
It's nothing new that they are overstating stuff like that but this is a bit too far off for my liking ;)

And on goes the search for a fast flowering, hardy strain.

Keep it up.

Nanana... you counted the vegging days too I guess!
Also, I 'messed' some things up and had her at 14/10 most of the time. That way and as a pure 'sativa' she's supposed to go on and on and on. Had I put her under 12/12 or even 10/14 in time she'd be finished in the promised 8 weeks from switching to 12/12 (with some luck, but 10 weeks are certainly no problem with the right tweaks). Furthermore, I let some branches go for 12 weeks on purpose (which was even a bit too late, though).
So, it is a fast flowering and hardy strain after all ;) .

Update: Clones and Offspring

Update: Clones and Offspring

And two pictures, one taken the same as above update day and one 9 days later:

The new Ciskei (day 48, on the left) and Rosetta Stone x Ciskei hybrid (day 50, on the right) are doing fine, great in fact. The Ciskei is a bit faster and branches out more; the hybrid clearly shows more vigour than the pure RS but looks quite similar and smells similar (like mint).
On the second picture they're at day 49 and 51, respectively, and have just gotten transplanted into 25 litre pots. They could have gone longer in the 10 l but I had the big ones in spare and they look more impressive on pictures in bigger pots. :)
Not sure if they're fast enough to finish outside, though, especially in the big pots and all that room to grow... but I'll have to try, get these plants and their potential to know better.

Anyway, on that second picture you have the comparison between the untrained offspring and the re-vegged C & RS (at day 134, still in 10 l pots). The order from left to right is: Ciskei clone, Rosetta Stone clone, Ciskei second generation, Rosetta Stone x Ciskei.

No real updates... the plants are growing like plants grow :D .
I've never had them in 18/6 and neither measured the stretch (sorry for being lazy :) ).
The first ones from seed were under 12-14 hours of light with low intensity interruptions every 3 hours at night and hence showed not much stretch. The clones were outdoors and the long summer days let them re-veg. Flowering was induced once day-length fell below 14 hour; the Ciskei started around 22. August, the Rosetta Stone a week later. The offspring were kept under 13-14 hours light from seed and showed pre-flowers after 4 weeks. Once outdoors (already less than 14 hours day), they went directly into flowering but kept on growing (some sort of middle-thing, haven't seen that before) and went both (a Ciskei and a RS x C) into full flowering mid September.
If compared with my varieties from last year, they showed even less stretch than the more 'indica'-leaning hybrids and are not what one would expect from a pure 'sativa' I guess. But again, both lighting schemes I used were supposed to do exactly that ;) .

The ciskei seems to do well for you. I dont count flowering days but I know when I grew her outdoors it wS one of the first to finish. N itsn incredibly fast for a pure sativa. The ciskei is somethjng else and ive been intrigued by it since first growing it years ago. Not only the fast flowering but the clear headed buzz and the quality of it is unlike anything ive ever had. Appearance of the finished flowers looks like nothing special but after smoking you realize yourself youve misjudged it. Its not powerfully potent but shines in other ways. This Is y I love this strain. The plants I grew had a variety of smells. I believe bhs of tsco gifted me seeds from the p4 m line and also a G Line, if I recall correctly. Its been years now since growng these. I would say atleast 7 or 8.
Smells ranged from minty to a honey smell. Very enjoyable plants to grow. Thanks for sharing onlyornamental. I look forward to getting the ciskei back in the garden

They have/had a Nepalese with the #G (?)... See THIS post.
Mine have not even a hint of mint but the Rosetta Stone and its Ciskei hybrid smell like pure horse mint and nothing else during veg. Though, the cured buds are very sweet smelling which could be interpreted as honey.
So far, the Ciskei is the variety I enjoyed growing the most. Not yet my holy grail but seems pretty close to it.

No updates anymore

No updates anymore

Just came home from vacation one day late due an accident and EVERYTHING is gone!!!
The cuts are still fresh, likely from last night. Someone chopped every single plant, no matter that most were still over a month from harvest, were fully seeded, or were plain hemp or crosses thereof, is gone!

FUCK!!! I knew it, had a very bad feeling this night...
That's the second time now ;( . Either no more vacations or only indoor runs....
At least, the indoor plants do more or less well. They grew faster than previewed and hence some are short of drying out but at least they're still there. Not much of a comfort though...

Again FUCK!!!
