MTF some 220 breakers only have a single handle...alot has to do with when they were manufactured....the main thing being is that they have a common trip factor for both of the wires that he needs to hook up....It sounded to me like in his original problem only one side of the breaker was tripping which is commonly seen.

lets see... i put in the breaker on 6/15, so it came on 3 nights so far...so far so good..no trippin!

its 2 20 amp breakers not 1 40 amp so wyour lights r going thre only 1 20 amp breaker put 1 set of lights on other breaker...its 2 120 feeds make ur 240 so this will fix ur problem split up the plugs into 2 110...i used my dryr plug it has 2 hots nuetral ground i split up the 2 hots and know i have 2 sepearte plugs of 120 runnin into a 30 amp breaker works great..maybe this will help late matt

Might wanna check your facts MB...a 40a/240v is 2 40a hot legs, a ground and normally a common. That's plenty of juice so that he can safely run 4 lights plus an 18Kbtu AC and all the pumps and fans needed without tripping the breaker.

ya its definitly 40a/240v, running on 240 draws fewer amps then 110.
by the way...1 week no trippage
