Anyone else given them up?

I used to mix tobaccco with all my spliffs until today and used to smoke lots of cigarettes.

Now I'm only smoking pure weed through a pipe as a substitute. It tastes really good actually and I'm not finding this too difficult psychologically, although I'm starting to get a bit disoriented at this stage!

I'd love to have the willpower or weed supply to give them up.Hopefully this year will be the one. As for mixing tobacco with weed i tried it in sydney once and got dizzy as hell.

Babbabud how long have you been off them? Did you use the weed as a substitute every time you wanted a cig? Thinking of using that tactic now myself although my work rate may suffer! lol

Rabies the tobacco hit is half of the effect of a typical spliff around here. Most people start smoking poor quality hash mixed with tobacco- this sets up a pattern for later life, even when you're getting good weed- you're accustomed to the taste and bite of a tobacco joint. I actually went back on the cigs after being off them for 4 years when I was on a beach in thailand and bought cigs to mix with the fantastic weed that I got there.

the americans definitely have the right idea with their bowls, pure pinners etc.

I mix a bit of tobacco with my weed. I plan to give that up one day in the not so far future too.

I gave up cigarettes because I just didn't see the point in them. The stress I felt whilst I was smoking was, I believe, due to craving for another one. So, in my mind they have none of this stress relieving powers that smokers claim. I just replaced cigarettes with cannabis. I'm now a much healthier person. I'm also much more laid back and calm and happy thanks to cannabis.

Another reason which really inspired me to give up was reading Bullgods posts on here talking about what he was going through. What he was saying was without a doubt the hardest thing I have ever read. It really was difficult to read and if my emotions whilst reading were not compleatly contained in my head I would probably have ended up in tears. R.I.P.

Been about 13 years for myself and the wife. We both quit "cold turkey". I was a heavy equipment operator and was up to three packs a day. Definetly made a diff having plenty of weed around. Was already a heavy weed smoker also so cant say i replaced tobacco with a joint everytime(we never mixed tobacco with our joints) . A big part of me quiting was I wanted my wife to quit so I felt i had to man up and take the lead. We quit cold turkey and have never tasted tobacco since. We prolly still smoke a couple ounces of weed a week though heheh But thats another story :)

i quit cigarettes 6 years ago, i used zyban (wellbutrin, a mood enhancer) with great success. i havent had a tobacco cigarette, i do still smoke the occasional cigar while golfing, since jan 20, 2002. before that, i was 2 packs a day for 12 years. another reason to quit smoking, think about how much cash you will save not having to buy them. good luck and stay strong!

i've been off of ciggies about 10 months now and i'm totally disgusted by them nowadays, almost makes me puke if someone is smoking next to me. laid of the booze also and life tastes better than ever. it's all about some selfdiscipline i say!

first thing i smoked was the good ol herb. I don't like cigs they don't alter me in anyway. absolutely nothing
weed is the way to go

It's been two years for me now, after sixteen years of smoking...i smoked american spirits so at least i didn't have to get off the thousands of other chemicals other cigarette companies add to theirs...but i started off with the patch for the first month to help with the cravings...didn't really change my herb consumption but had to get used to not having a cig after puffin'...i'd say the hardest part to get over was not having one in my hand 20+ times a day...you have to reprogram yourself and change your habits...anyway i am so happy i finally gave up the cancer sticks...i can breath so much better, no hacking shit up in the morning, i can smell 100x better and also food and drinks taste 100x better...and when i smell someone who smokes i just can't believe i walked around smelling that nasty...give em up Grandad it will be the best thing you will ever do yourself

I used to mix tobacco in with my herb and really wanted to get off it. I've gone the vape route and totally recommend it - my lungs feel 100% again.

Started cigs when I was 13, and at 29, I told myself every day for a year that I would quit the day after I turned 30, and I did, probably the only reason I am still alive. I used joints of leaf, and carrot sticks to suck on. Now they have the patch, I had those in the hospital, seem to help.

After my second kid, I was handing out cigars, and got hooked on them and that has been two decades now, time to quit again. Saving up my blue sativa bud trim for joints this time.

I smoke one of the top brands, and guess what? Them bastards snuck like 50% extra nicotine in them over 5 years! For real, my brand has like 3.2mg of nicotine per cigarette now (regular size not a 100)

I bought the competition today, which has increased nicotine levels by 30%, but is still at 1.5mg at most, I think it's closer to 1.0

Either way, at most it has half the nicotine of my brand. I'm gonna smoke these tonight and tomorrow, then try the light version.

At first, I wanted to smoke TWO cigarettes to compensate, but I rode it on out, and it's not so bad. I think I'll end up smoking more total cigarettes though, but there's no way to catch up to my old brand unless I smoke twice as much, and that ain't gonna happen.

I figure after 4 days, I'll have cut back on my nicotine levels somewhat significantly, then I'm gonna try to cut back to half a pack or less, then go cold turkey.

I'm also gonna start working out again and eating to supplement my cravings. I found that actually works pretty well on it's own for me. Maybe it's replaces the endorphins from nicotine with the ones from adrenaline or something along those lines.

Best tip I got though- put off smoking after meals, sex, etc. If you do that before you try to quit, it'll help a lot

I've actually quit before, but always when I was damn near too sick to even smoke.
