Hey gl

I've only used zippers so I can't speak of the pros and cons of it, but as far as zippers go...
They are easy to open and close with little effort and don't accidently stick themselves shut when you don't want them to as I imagine velcro might.

It's also quiet if that may be an issue for you for any reason.

Never need replaced as far as I've found.

You need to get a model that has flaps to block out light or cut your own strip of black poly and attach to zipper to block light. If your grow room is inside another room and light leaks are not an issue this doesn't matter.

Very easy to attach and set up.

That's about it. I love the zippers so havn't had the need to try anything else. Would love to hear from some velcro users though. Always looking to improve my own room any way I can!

he could pour some concrete into the pipe holding his light once dry i dont think that baby will bend then. that way he could still use sch 40 instead of the 80 or hell even the thin wall and concrete is cheap

Red_Nine, or anyone else who has done this: how did you run your electrical in? I was thinking of cutting some flaps with velcro like on the hydrohuts. Any suggestions?

i know i'm a little late on this thread, considering your almost done. But it could help someone else. Built similar room, but instead of pvc pipe i used wood. Wrapped in b/w poly, then stapled to wood, then ran aluminum tape over all staples and seems. Then used adehesive zipper , and ran aluminum tape up edges to help adhesive. Final touch was made a flap over zipper tapping one side and ran velcro down other to prevent any light leakes. I run a dwc system so i mounted air pumps outside of room, zip tied to studs. Res is also out side room, used 1 1/2 hole saw to run 1 inch drain lines to res. and filled gapps with gap sealer. Sealed room with co2 and other mods, under 2000w. Co2 lasts a month under vented hoods so I know its sealed pretty well. Hope this can help someone. It is also pretty leak resistant had a couple spills and water didn't make it outside room, with like a solid inch of standing water in a 7' x 10' room thats some water. just make sure you have a wet dry vac handy. Later SI

i wouldnt bother with the velcro unless you can ge some with a real good adhesive, or maybe use a thin bit ofcloth either side of bothe bits the velcro is to be fixed to and staple it as well, ive used velcro, and completely cleaned the area like was recommended above with the zipper, it was great at first but after a month it started coming loose and one half completely coming away staying stuck to the other whe i opened it one day,.....i dunno if you can geta heavier duty one?? but ill be adding a new entry with a zipper when this crop im doing finsihes..... 2 inch square downpipe would be a good tent building material....

hay harry that actually what i did with velcro stapled to stud then ran aluminum tape on edges and spaced tape about ever foot and a half. been up year and still holding. made same mistake as you at first though, wish i would have had thread like this. first velcro strip only lasted a month. next set up i'm going to do will cost more but should work well is going to build similar set up but run sheets of that foam insulation with aluminum foil like strip on one side comes like that. its 1 1/2 iches thick 1 1/2 foot wide and 10 foot in length. going to build wood frame run insulation and place studs evenly so they slide in. then aluminum tape in side of room, and run low expansion gap filler on outside. then rap in 6 mil black polly from the depot. this insulation is real easy to work with and should create a very sealed room. any one try this. later SI :joint:
