cheap alternative to a dehumidifier?

Guest

I'm too damn broke to spend over $100 on a dehumidifier...and my humidity is hitting 60 - 80% in the flower room lately.

Anyone have any ideas on cheap ways to get it down? What about those DampRid packets available at Walfart? Room is approx. 8x4'.

Cheers,
SH

My advice would be to bite the bullet and get the kit you need to make the buds grow. Disclaimer:I have no experience with this bucket stuff, but I don't expect it to take your 80% down to 50%.

Mouldy weed sucks, and this is every bit as important as lights, nutrient balance, PH, etc., IMAO. Do what you need to to save the additional $70-$80 to make this a growroom non-issue! A window A/C unit has the dehumidifier right in it, so you may find a used window unit on the cheap, especially if you live in a hot, humid climate (like it sounds you do!). Check the local rag for "Super Saver" ads. I prolly wouldn't buy a dehumidifier used, however, as if they are not properly maintained they can make you sick.

I had a growroom that was 1.2 mts X 80 cms, wich is like 5 X 3 or something alike, and it took the humidity, really amazingly.

Its a cheap alternative and it DOES work. if the humidity is really high, it will take it off, and youll have to flush down the water and refill it. more often than normal. But it works

Thanks folks....I picked some things up today at Walfart. Some really big bags of DampRid moisture removing bags, and a couple of these little mini dehumidifiers. I will start adding them tonight.

I do plan on getting a dehumidifier...just not new. $120 - $150 is a little steep at the moment.

I've seen some nice refurbished units on Ebay for $35, plus $35 shipping. Still checkin yard sales first though.

Cheers,
