Chameleons And Pot Plants

That's right you SHOULD know, it is not alright to go around telling people that Iguanas are easy to take care of if they are in fact not. Also when did "Croc Hunter" ever feature small keep at home reptiles on the show'??? I thought he was more in tune with 6ft pythons and moniter lizards.

So why would an experienced keeper need to ask such a question? (guess I didn't see that episode of croc hunter where they teach us about pot plants and chameleons) Do you honestly think this is the type of info they would put in a book? Because I can promise you not one chameleon book out there has a chapter on marijuana.

I can tell you that the main page wouldn't be riddled with threads like "guy cuts his junk off" "Do you have ADD?" or "Pants Off Dance Off...WTF???"

It just seems like I'm seeing a lot of the same posting habits as those over at 420times.com where in the past this site was very classy and mature. (no thanks to me)

Chameleons and Pot, just two hobbies of mine which I had enjoyed the idea of somehow combining, I even mentioned with the first post of this thread that it probably wouldn't work so it's not like any of you have even been helpful.

So I provide a large sum of information, I even said I don't know about iguana's I was just suggesting, I said I can't remember if it was croc hunter or Geoff Corwin; but I know for a fact one of them did a show on chameleons, the 2nd croc hunter thing was a joke, Cannabis isn't illegal everywhere, why not make some calls, call a fucking zoo. I even provided a site with toxic plants...

Besides being unable to read and crying like an american, since your such an expert I would think you would have a little intelligence.

Why not put your chameleon on the plant, and if your pet gets hurt or killed you can always sue somebody for not having the information!

I'm really getting angry at these stupid mother fuckers that spam mature everywhere like I have to be dumb, deaf, blind, and coughin dust to post here.

I have a panther chameleon, and in its habitat I have two Whitaker blues plants one is female the other male. The chameleon chooses to avoid the plants just like it avoids the plastic plant in its terrarium, I am in veg and will gladly remove at flower if any irritation occurs but the chameleon chooses to avoid them naturally although it will grab crickets off the leaves. If you have cannabis in the environment I would recommend other plants that your chameleon can seek refuge in. Also note a chameleon likes to have its environment misted multiple times daily and this will set you up for botris at flower. I originally placed mine in the habitat to check the affect of my uvb lamps on the plants.

Wow, I am a "Newbie" on this site but after reading some of the comments I am wondering if I am in the right forum. Do y'all have to be so hostile towards each other? Do y'all have to make fun of each other? And why are some of you getting your panties in a wod? Pull up those big girl panties y'all sensitive ones? And to those that are laughing at this question? Why not answer the question in a matter of fact way and leave your unsolicited opinion out of it? At least the person would learn and no chameleons. ( or any other living creature) is harmed?

As I said, I noticed that too. but as I also said OG went down well over a year ago. If the change is fairly recent (I've noticed more in the past4 or 5 months) you can't make a connection to OG. It's a natural progression. Every canna board has it's ebbs and flows. Og has nothing now to do with IC. Og has nothing to with anything.

Play nice

Well since im the most immature and hateful person on this board I think I should give you some info.

Chamelons are very fragile lizards, you really need to have a home setup and make sure every thing is perfect.

I do not sugguest having them around your cannabis plants, the reisen can get into their eyes and cause an infection. They will most likely eat at your plants or kick dirt and so forth.

Plants

There are many great plants you can use for the decor, as well as for the well being of your chameleon. In general you'll want to use real full-leafed plants which aerate the cage and can decrease the chances for an Upper Respiratory Infection (see Troubles/Illness), as well as provide a means for drinking water droplets, and shelter or refuge. Pothos are very common, and great not only because their vines can grow to great lengths (I have some that are 9 feet long!), but because they are said to have the ability to remove some contaminates from the air. However it is also reported that they are mildly toxic but many chameleon owners have been witness to their chameleons eating this with no side effects. Ficus trees - to start this off, many people feel these are not a good choice due to a white, milky sap that is said to cause eye infections. It is my experience that this sap is only evident when you trim/cut back branches. Whenever I have to do this the chameleons are removed and replaced when this sap has dried. I believe it would also take the chameleon to have to rub their eyes directly on that fresh trimming spot. At some point you may notice brown bumps on the stems or leaves. These are a scale insect that feeds by sucking the nutrients out of the plant. Use an insecticidal soap and rinse thoroughly - also try to avoid soil saturation. If not a bad infestation removing them by hand could eliminate them. Hibiscus plants are colorful and sturdy, but I have found that this is a "seasonal" plant and not always available. Another great plant many people use is the Sheflerra, sometimes labeled as the umbrella tree.

Any plant you use should be cleaned before using, especially those purchased from a florist or hardware store. These places may use pesticides that can be harmful to your chameleon. Cleaning them can be accomplished by placing the plant(s) in your shower and using a mild soap/water mixture to clean off the leaves. Let them sit under the shower spray until clean (use your best judgment). You may also want to cover the soil with plastic to avoid flooding the plant and making a big mess when you take the plant(s) out of the shower stall.

Clicking on the picture below will take you to an alphabetical list of plants which, in whole or their parts, are known to range from mildly intoxicating to extremely toxic to herbivorous reptiles. To the best of my knowledge I have not heard of or been witness to any of my Jackson's eating any plant matter but it's better to be safe than sorry. And if you have other chameleons that do eat plants as part of their diet this may help.

I found your reply very informative. Not hateful or obnoxious in any way. Maybe your just misunderstood? Thanks for the info!

most of the posts being complained about are 5 years old, if not older. none of the names looked familiar to me at all. give the place a chance...although you might well bump into someone else that irritates you just as much, if not more so. i'd stay off of Speakers Corner like Buzz said until my skin thickened up a hair, lol...

Yeah, something is def hinky. Thread began in '07. Bumped 1 time 11 + years later.
Then a new member revives it after over 5 years since it lay dead.
Said new member decides to chastise other members in this old dead thread and these are the only posts made by said new member.

They do exist :D.. They're super easy to take care of. I live in Cali with a humidity of 30% most of the time. He has no issues with it.. A misting system and a good variety of feeders is all one needs. Chameleons will not eat plants. I do agree cannabis plants are not good to use for these guys. There are plenty of others we use. This is Ares. He is 3 years old..

Cool, man! I find it funny it took 15 years and 3 pages for the first chameleon to show up in this thread!!
