CFL's Enough to veg till cuttings?

Are CFL's enough to veg plants to a decenet size to take clones.

I want to beg my seeds until they are big enough to take approx 10 - 12 cuttings each.

How big do they have to be to take this many and are cfl's enough to get them there in 6 weeks.


I would be using approx 200w of CFL's

I've used CFLs from seed to harvest, so yeah, CFLs will do it.

NT, what wattage of bulbs are you using and how many?

How far d o you keep your light above yoru seedlings?

I have my seedlings about 5-inches or so from the bank of CFl's(2-45w and 3-27w).

LOL, they keep dying-do you think they are too close? The hand test for temps are fine and the cab temps are 70*-78*F.

When I was using CFLs for the whole grow (I'm using HPS now), I had 6 42w CFLs, and I kept them about 3-6 inches from the plant, with a fan blowing at the bulbs to remove heat.

I don't see a fan in your pic, how are you removing heat?

NT, I do have a fan blowing ont he bulbs.

I just seem to be having bad luck with sprouting beans.

At this moment it is 76.8*F, perfect. I moved my cooked seedling two inches further away.

I don't know if I fried them from the CFL's or soil.

Cfls are nearly the same as hps performance wise,ive seen a side by side grow the hps were a wee bit bigger.
Certainly they are ok for seedlings.Seedlings require little light,make sure they are at least 12" below.If you vege em for enough time you can expect more
than 10 cuttings from each,wait until they are about 2 months old for best success.Bear in mind the more you take the more comes back,they seem to thank you for it.
