CFL Veg Area

I need an alternate veg area for when i put my current plants into flower. They are currently under a 400w MH but will flower them under a 400 W HPS. I have 18 cuttings which are surviving but need a new veg area. I am thinking of using CFLs until my flower room frees up in about 8 weeks. Any idea as to what sort of bulbs? If i used 3 bulbs would I need 2 cool and one warm? The only fixture i can think of is these ceramic 3 piece fixtures which are wired together into one plug and are designed to be screwed onto a board. Anyone use anything like that?

If your going cfl's you wud be much better getting a ECOLITE (Envirolite) i've got good results from them , they are low energy which helps keep the electric bills down and you will have " NO " Heat issuses to worry about freely available in the UK ... i got the eco lite instead of the envirolite as grow shops said too many enviros were coming back with faults ... have a look at what you can get with eco lite

Envirolites

People in states seem to have trouble getting them .. Ebay seems to be place to get them . They use a E-40 LAMP holder

BTW you are better off with more small CFL's than 1 big one. Lights of america sells lights of the propper spectrum for vegiging and flowering i use them below the canopy for solid top to bottom kolas.

I use the small CFL's as well , but they DO NOT COUNT compared to ECO light , if you have a small vegg area just get the 125w ECO(12" long and 3" wide).

THEY ARE ENERGY SAVING BULBS TOO , ONLY USE 20% OF ELECTRIC

This is what i will be dealing with.. at least temporarily. I wanted cfl's because it could be somewhat portable. Case in point, my sister is visiting over xmas and i will need to relocate my planned alt veg area to the basement or somewhere... Out of the 22 plants a few may not survive and some will be males once they determine the sex during flowering. These are cuttings from 6 plants and the others are some sour diesals gifted to me this weekend from a friend at a party. Once my current grow is harvested i can go back to my 400w MH area but have no idea what state these will be in after 8 weeks. I actually hope they grow slow and i dont want anything overpowering since i am dealing with young cuttings. I was thinking of a tub i can cover with a screen (for my cats) and suspend the lights and a fan over the top. the fixtures i am considering is 3 ceramic fixtures, wired together and connected to a single wall plug. I think they may handle 40-60 watts each. I would screw them into a board and hang the board over the plants. I am not sure of the spectrum. I had 40 watt shop lights but they are too bulky...

seedlings and clone trive with ECO , and with 3 40w cfls there will be more heat issusess . also very portable , easier than what ur talkin about . You will not reget getting the ECO ... Thats my 2 cents worth anyway , but im talking from my experiance with the ECO .
