CFL 4ft Tube - Light Penetration

I am wondering what the light penetration is on a pair of 4ft tube fluorescent? I am using 6500K color tubes. They are T12 40 watt tubes.


I don't imagine it is much more than 6-10 inches. But I just don't know. I am not planning to flower under them. I will only use them for vegetative growth.


Is there a list of all the different lights with their respective penetration levels?

i veg under 8bulb 4ft t5's and the plants seem to luv it- they are only under the t5's for a short time... prob about 3, maybe 4 weeks , then under cmh's ... and led's as side lighting

T5's definitely have better penetration. But I am asking about T12's.
