Ceramic Metal Halide (CMH)

So just after I posted I got a email quote for CE cert (NOT UL LISTED) Chinese knockoff 315W CMH Philip ballasts for <80USD. Anyone interested? They say they got a 3 year warranty...

I bought 10 from metronix. I was thinking i'll use them eventually, but if you want 2 I could part with them.

I don't want to inconvenience you. Especially if you're going to eventually use them. I'm still looking for other ways to acquire them and I'm not in a hurry. Thanks for the offer though.

it will be a few runs before i'll need all of them.
keep us all updated on the options, and if you change your mind let me know.

P.S.
Does anyone have a link or info on a 315W vertical Grow? i am thinking to do my next run like that

I am curious on this as well. I had better results from 400 watt ushios as compared to the old cmh retro tech. I attributed this to the arc tube being longer on the hps bulbs so more even and larger vertical light distribution. I would get hot spots with the cmh even though they were supposed to run cooler, the fact that all of the light/heat is coming out of a smaller emitter made heat control harder than hps.

Also these cmh "arc tubes" are spherical so some of that light is going straight downwards not useful in vertical growing. Ime I didn't find the old cmh tech very good for barebulb vertical growing, but like I said I too am curious if someone is doing big things with the 315 barebulb. Also curious if anybody has ran that 4k bulb that advanced tech sells with their combo kit.

My bulbs are bare very even though they are in a store bought fixture. So, not hanging bare, but... I think one of my lights could cover 3-3.5 x 3-3.5' area, but doesn't seem quite enough for a 4x4 tent, but Rives is running that very experiment (horizontal bulb) in here now and should be getting close to harvest, so we'll know then.

But I decided to hang 2 in a 4x4 tent. You will also see some LEDs. The (2) 315s are plenty of light, and grew some fire last run, but I had these LEDs lying around, they fit, and they bring me to 52 watts/sqft.

Thanks, guys. LP, no wet weight - I'm always tempted to do that, but always wind up being so tired of trimming that it just goes straight to the drying racks.
