Cbd - anyone else not impressed?

I have grown, harvested, and sampled both harlequin and ac/dc strains that were given to me as "verified" clones. Being high cbd and low thc, they obviously didn't get me ripped. They also didn't do anything else. No relief for headaches, pains, etc. My wife has tested both as well to see if they do little to nothing to relieve her chronic back pain.

What am I missing? Others who have sampled the same clones seem happy with the relief they provide so I'm wondering how much is simply the power of suggestion

My cannatonic 4cbd HP cut after vaping (dabbing), or eating my edibles made from it. I do a 75/25 cbd/thc extract when medicating. When I do medicate, it feels like a slow rolling wave coming over me. Kinda like chilling at a beach, sunglasses on, sipping on a beverage.

I tried a CBD rich strain with a 1:1 ratio of THC to CBD and didn't like really it.

I prefer higher THC ratio and just wanted to see what the CBD craze was about.

Something with maybe a 8:1 ratio THC to CBD would be better for me I bet.

Like 16% THC and 2% CBD strain if such exists right now.

CBD does not change how "CBD-enhanced" THC-variety affects you, cause CBD does not control every compound in cannabis.
..meaning, CBD-rich sativa will still feel like sativa, indica (stoned) will feel like indica.

So, if a certain THC-only strain has rushy-sativa effect before the CBD-enhancement, it's likely it will be somewhat rushy even if there is some CBD in it, thou CBD will soften that effect a bit.. And if it raises blood pressure as THC-only variety, it may do so even after CBD-enhancement.

If a THC-only stain isn't known to give much pain releaf, the CBD-version of it, prolly, isn't gonna be the best strain for pain either.
For me, how i feel personally (not an expert or that well read) THC also plays a part in pain releaf. It can bring on some "numbness" for the body.

What else..

Even if a CBD-rich strain is known to be 20:1 CBD/THC, this doesn't mean that it will have a huge % of CBD in it, it only refers to the ratio of CBD and THC. So if there's only 0.1% of THC, the CBD% isn't that huge either if it's 20:1 to the 0.1% THC.

And most likely med-users need larger amounts of CBD than just a joint of few bong hits. so CBD consentrated might be worth to try if people want to experiment with CBD-treatments.

My CBD Critical Cure will f-you-up if you smoke enough of it. I'd estimate the THC level is close to 10% and the CBD % is even higher. Good amount of Myrcene in her to make you sleepy. Very nice night cap smoke.

I like CBD-rich weed and i mix it with my THC-only smokes. I like hashish alot and this mix will give a nice hash-like effect, which, to me, is much nicer than with strong THC-only smokes.

Entourage effect talks about having the right amount of thc to facilitate the cbd effects. Also, body chemistry is a factor

haven't grown a cbd plant yet though tried some extracts and was really happy with them. concerning pain management i think its something more for the long run than for acute pain. in general it helps the body to heal itself and this might take time even though the effect on autoimmune problems is quite sudden.

Cannot speak for clones. We have 2 that are CBD "rich" photo strains but still have adequate thc. Best of both worlds, (seed form).
Too, autoflowering strains already have higher percentage of CBD in them.

Possibly the reason, clones?

Some High CBD strains currently testing around 15% CBD and 0.5% THC, allow patients to utilize the cannabis without an intense psychoactive effect. Many patients also find a more desirable effect from mixing high CBD strains and high THC cannabis together. The list of possible medical benefits of CBD is rather extensive, but the effects vary among patients and intake methods.

CBD strains are what we used to call schwag :biglaugh: Good for sobering up in a hurry :biglaugh:

I will say my grandma likes the capsules, says it makes her bones feel younger.

So I think there is something to it, it just resides in a place of extreme subtlety when it comes to 'effects'.

As someone else mentioned, a lot of the medicinal effect probably lies within the long term facilitation of the improvement of the bodies natural ability to heal itself. That's what a lot of the material i've read has pointed to at least.

When California made MMJ legal in 1996 there weren't any high CBD strains being specifically sold .... so what happened?

^^Dr. Gupta and those Stanley brothers.

But seriously, it's due to many wanting the benefits from cannabis while not wanting the full psychological effects of THC. Many parents are desperate for anything to help, but still will draw the line at getting "high"

The problem is growers, extractors, and retailers are using this desperateness to sell product. With the limited data on the effects of CBD, many consumers seem to be reporting what are most likely Placebo effects. This un-verifiable information then spreads and is used to increase demand.

There are many that have the best intentions selling these products but are basing information on very limited studies and more so on word of mouth transfer of this information.

When you really believe a nonpsychoactive substance will help, there's a good chance your mind will manifest those effects on its own. With nonpsychoactives, double blind studies of large populations are required to determine effectiveness for reported positive and negative effects individually.

Edit: To clarify that I am referring to CBD only products. In my experience, anything with large THC amounts and low CBD, the CBD plays an important role in modulating THC however; When CBD is high, I get zero quantifiable effects.

I think all of these varying ratios need to be tested better and more publically.

CBD is great for me, I'm all messed up though.

Couldn't even think about reading in a moving car without getting sick, can now read whatever I want.
MUCH lower pain levels.
I "Have" a memory now.
Increased focus.
Logic circuits seem 'smoother.' (If that makes any sense)
Mood control much improved.

Yeah, CBD has been great for me. The harlequin is weak in comparison to the Canna-Tsu I have now. Never tried AC/DC. There isn't any high or stone with this cut either, I know the harlequin had an annoying buzz on the back end.

It mainly brings me functionality, I quit using cannabis to "Get f'cked up" as a teenager.

Possibly research had not been done in 1996 regarding benefits of CBD? It wasn't until the "60 Minutes" interview Stanley Bros in Colorado having their Charlotte's Web strain to help many a consumer (children included) that it was really exposed regaling the benefits of high CBD.

Like the op, most folks want a little "kick" along with the benefits of high CBD to help with pain, insomnia, etc. They seemingly got the real deal....only trace amounts of thc and high amounts of CBD, best for making oil, tinctures vs. smoking.

We found (adult users) like combination of both properties with near equal ratio of CBD & thc.

Elder customers of mine prefer not getting buzzed (in tinctures), hence higher CBD, low thc (along with children) best overall use.

For pain management, CBDa is beter than CBD, while for tumour problems, or seizures, CBD is better. Also, is not good for any pain, and when working, it may take up to 10-30 days for full effect, so for acute pains, better forget about, while some effects may be felt in this case too.
So trial is the only way to check the effects for pain management, and don't expect short term miracles..

It does nothing for me personally. Ac/dc makes amazing tasting extracts. And those extracts have worked very well for some of my friends. Both in edibles and as a rub for pain.

My patient with fibromyalgia uses half Susie q (cbd strain) and half of any high thc strain, and gets relief. Maybe try making hash or concentrates with your Cbd plants. All you have to keep smoking it. I notice a lot of people need to let it build up in their system before it really works.

So true! Nor when the Chinese or Ayurvedic medicine were including the plant among their treatments many thousands of years ago. Yet the patients were experiencing the benefits of medical Cannabis anyway, right? ;)

You haven't missed anything man... you simply experienced the reality by yourself. THC is still more effective for pain that CBD in most cases. Cannabidiol strains aren't the panacea at all, besides what they try to promote. I keep hearing testimonies like yours, from people who seem to prefer any other plant over this proven CBD clones. Be it for relaxing, acute pain, menstrual cramps, headache, sclerosis and so on. A unique chemotype contained within a single clone won't work the same for everyone or every condition either. That's why this CBD promotion is senseless somehow and mostly based on patient's ignorance, because then, even if you need a high CBD plant, the truth is that most patients don't have access to proven CBD clones, so they are mostly fucked up by relying on seed banks. Most won't be even able to find out if the plants at their garden are actually high CBD or not.

All this CBD trend is mostly a commercial thing and something that came after the fact that CBD is non-psychoactive, so the medical industry and the whole community are empowering its use, while neglecting the usefulness or the need to keep researching or focusing on other chemotypes or even THC cultivars as they favor all this CBD bubble, where everyone wants to get a piece of the juicy cake. Think about it. Even some renowned cannabis researchers confirmed this to me during some conferences about Cannabis and cancer research. Who are the first ones promoting CBD plants? The big pharma (like GW for example), the seed banks, dispensaries and so on, mostly those who will be able to make cash from it. Even researchers seen to prefer to research with CBD because working with THC is just a bureaucratic pain in the ass or simply impossible for most.

It's a new thing, it mostly rocketeed after all the CBD kids and cancer research news at the media and the community, bringing a lot of attention worldwide. The good thing is that the plant is starting to be taken seriously finally.

Who said CBD was better than THC for pain anyway? So many people claiming stuff but where are the papers where you can read about that? I want to see comparative studies, stuff like this done by Russo in 2003 was the kind of info patients should be looking at, but updated with real data instead of fancy graphics showing the marvellous benefits of CBD (but neglecting THC):

efectos_thc_cbd.jpg

I think CBD is useful for those who don't want, can't or don't need to get high (kids, elders, patients that need to medicate all day round...) or for certain uses but for the rest, I think many people could still prefer regular and balanced cultivars. Is not really about CBD or THC, is about balance of effect for one or another certain use or need. A 30%THC plant is not good for many patients, but neither for recreative smokers... it's just something created after a series of commercial traits and needs or misconceptions, more potent, 20%THC strains (or 20%CBD) doesn't mean it's better for any use. What about the rest of the compounds within the chemotype?

Of course after all this decades of poor breeding conducted by uneducated people that mostly focused on reaching more and more THC % every time, we ended with a poor genepool in terms of chemotype diversity, that not only seem to be useless for medical use and patients in many cases, but it's also useless or poor for certain kinds of recreactive use too (those seeking for a quality balanced and enhancing effect, not an ameba-style couchlock, like myself and many daytime smokers). But the problem is not the lack of CBD really, is the lack of specialization on Cannabis breeding and more indepth research on medical Cannabis uses or how Cannabis can be useful for one or another use. Be it medical, recreational or spiritual.

I think all this graphics showing and promoting the benefits of CBD and becoming viral, many times taken out of context and without all the "small letters", contributed to the general misinformation of the public who seem to have embraced all this CBD trend.

We really need more in-depth studies comparing the usefulness and effects of each and all of the different compounds within the plant. As we try to separate everything we are missing the whole point and perspective that the plant could be teaching us.

And last but not least, all the CBD plants are coming from the same genetics or few clones, which is ridiculous... so one way or another, the truth is that they all will be equally good or useless by all means. CBD genepool is so shallow it's sounds like a joke, soon all CBD plants will be relatives really, simply as the Chem, Skunk or NL/Haze strains nowadays... Just like what breeders used to do with proven high THC elite-clones until now, they are doing the same with high CBD clones. Reason is probably because most breeding is market $$$ oriented, rather than science or medicine oriented. So instead of investing on researching and scanning new interesting genes in order to find useful chemotypes for useful breeding projects, they are simply trying to acquire the latest trendy CBD or THC clone that could become a hot sale.

Amateur breeding is killing the Cannabis genepool and diversity really. And this will have a direct influence in both medical and recreational plants. As the time passes, it will become harder and harder to find anything unique and without being contaminated by the commercial genepools from the present days. This will be negative both for recreational smokers and patients in need of relief.

Just my 2 cents.:tiphat:

had 2 different reactions to CBD.. reaction 1.. Nothing.. Reaction 2 pain relief..

but.. 1 was an unknown supposedly high thc tincture. and did nothing .. then got some cheeba chews from a friend 10mg cbd in each.. took all of them . 8. 80mg.. cbd. and got some pain relief.. It seems like you need a ton of the shit to get relief from it..

but honestly. if and when I find a high cbd clone.. I will try eating between 200-500mg of oil at a time to see if it works !
