Okay, I don't get it....I was watching the news last night and seen a statistic about how atheist's are least likely to be voted for if they run for president.

They had blacks, women and gays before Atheists. thats nothing against blacks I love Obama... but thats not my point

Why does religion make someone a better candidate?
I am a professed atheist and proud of it.

Why so much faith in catholics? Isnt it a little weird how so many catholic priests like to do weird shit with little boys?... oh how pure... id love to have him for president.

Being an athiest isnt going to make you any better a president than being a catholic.

Not sure what religion has anything to do with how well you do in office.

Also not sure if you are targeting the right religion with the right contempt for the right reasons. Why? because theres only been one catholic US president in all history.. JFK.

buddy and i were getting into a chat and i told him( he already knew but) how i believe in free will, he tells me that im catholic. basically saying that i have to be catholic if i believe in free will cuz thats what they believe in. I am like dude, the catholic dont have a patent on the idea of free will.
Iand i kinda sense the same thing with, im going to say some cuz i dont want to say all, but kinda have an ego and think they have better beliefs.

i have been very lucky, i guess you could say, but i believe you choose who you are.
that my parents have never forced me to go to church.
my mom had to go way to much and got very sick of it.
but it sucks cuz some of there beliefs are limiting. as they dont think they have the power, they depend on god.

I have never had a religion, I have took old testament in college. acutally enjoyed it and i went throught some phases where i believe in the same stuff but i keep an open mind and my beliefs change.

Everyone knows the one true faith is the is the Western Branch of American Reform Presbylutheranism.

Religion should have absolutely nothing to do with government and politics.It is sad that people are so brainwashed and ignorant that their vote is dependant on a candidates religion and not whether they are qualified or have sound policy, bah idiots.

I would rather have someone who runs the economy properly without taking WB/ IMF debt and keeps my country from receeding into a decrepit UN slave pit....and who has the guts to rid my country of the rabid system of party politics. Athiests who've assumed office don't have a good record either. Look at Enver Hoxha in Albania....and Kim Jong Il in North Korea..and Pol Pot of Cambodia, for starters.

YOU may rely on facts, but most Athiests who've taken the leadership seat don't. Most create an immense personality cult, elevating them to demi God status...which, if you think about it is no different from religious mythology. But again, other Athiest leaders like Vladimir Lenin won a stamp of approval from ppl like Mahatma Gandhi.

Religious belief (or lack of) has nothing to do w/ a person's leadership calibre, they're completely different & unrelated variables. SPeaking of which, we've had great visionaries who were very religious like Babur, Pritviraj etc. But again, we also had crappy religious leaders like the present day heads of various religious political parties in the SUbcontinent who stall every development programme in the name of religion.

Wrong, being carefull about who you sleep with and using proper protection prevents stds.

Wrong, having many wives, although cool for a few days, would not guarantee you many diseases. It would guarantee you an early grave though.

If you are sexually assaulting anyone, then you are not Christian! I can call myself a millionaire but if I'm lacking that which defines it then I'm just a liar, not a millionaire. If I call myself a Christian yet lack the defining characteristics then I'm just a liar not a Christian. Atheists, Gnostics, whatever can be some of the most evil people, do some reading on the most despicable killers, rapists, etc... and you wont find many that have any care for God or any higher power.

Before anyone touts being only about facts and truth, they should never speak a word without proper concrete proof or you too are relying on faith.

Science doen't account for everything in the entire everything but scientist have faith that it may one day.
