Categorizing Cannabis Strains According to Benefits

Bubba Kush/ most other afghanis are great for insomnia

Ummm Bubba Kush is not an "afghanis"... Although Kush is mostly from Afghanistan, it's not really considered an "afghani". Bubba Kush is probably Hindu Kush (perhaps from an area between Pakistan and India) x Bubblegum.

Herijuana for insomnia caused by pain.

I love the bubba kush. It didn't put me to sleep but it really helped with me overall pain.(back,neck,knees.) I'm not really sure what my pain is from. Might be fybromyalsia. Wish I had some now for my broken toe. Again, I do not have insurance. So when I die and they do an autopsy, then we can find out why I'm so sick all the time.
Cindy99 is great for creativity, but make sure you record or write down sht or you will forget what you were thinking about an hour later. Bout to go smoke some Cindy right now.
Smoke on people.

Hehe Mrs. Evl. C99 is like that, isn't it? I have a hard time reading when I'm smoking it. I'll add Bubba Kush and C99 to their appropriate categories. Thanks.

A list of individual crosses linked to anecdotal evidence of benefit in very specific and defined medical conditions might not be of more than general guidance given wide variations in pheno and harvest time.

Could be of use as a marketing tool to differentiate your product and maximise profit for those trying to exploit medical users.

Found nothing myself that works for toothache in any targetted way over hundreds of crosses , most only make it worse or add earache to the fun.

A gramme of MIS resin left me looking so like a stroke victim on the TV infomercial that Mrs Foomar was phoneing 999 in a genuine panic till she recognised the smell.
Still had toothache despite the massive body effect.

Has anyone found something that helps with this kind of nerve pain that does not put you into a near coma as well ?

Actually, most of Hindu Kush is in Afghanistan, and not the slightest peak of valley near India.

I have noticed strong mood uplifting properties while sampling quick dried, not-yet-ready buds from Moham Ram. The plant is drying now, will check wether it's still there with mature slow dried buds.

Blueberry - Great appetite stimulant for me.

The best anti-depressant I've ever tried was the strain Dolphins @ Dolphin coffeeshop. I just got happier and happier, no trippin no paranoia just pure happiness. It was really light on your head and nothing on your body. The negative was that you felt like superman and smoked and smoked and smoked :D

I found Free Tibet was very good for anxiety.....excellent for meditation. Totally stops all the thoughts buzzing around in your head, yet doesn't knock you out at all.

Cool thread hippie lettuce!

I'd like to get Caramella into the anti-depressant category. Not the most seasoned toker here, but out of everything I've had the chance to grow and smoke thus far, this is the best strain for making me feel positive about life, starting from a depressed or stressed frame of mind. It also gets the job done for insomnia, but there's lots of herb that can handle that if you smoke enough of it. Actual mood enhancement is a little more special in my book.

Hi Hippie L~
Love this thread.
I would add Angel Dust and Life Saver to the pain relief category.
Guessing general would be the place, although I do know the AD works for fibromyalga and lupus on many folks.
LS targets lower back pain, and will help you sleep solidly.
Just my two cents.
Thanks again for starting this thread.

 everyone,

This thread is going to be created with your help. I would like to categorize all the different strains that you guys (and gals) have tried into "effects" categories, such as strains that relieve anxiety, strains that relieve back pain, strains that help you eat, etc. You prolly get the deal-io.

So, all that you need to do is give me the strains that you have tried, the beneficial effects (and even non-beneficial ones, too) that you felt, and I'll continuously edit this first post to categorize the strains that we have based on their effects.

I hope that this thread will be able to help people choose strains that they like according to the effects/benefits that they need, without having to go searching all over the place to find the information, although I understand there is some variation across strains and such.

It's a good place to start, right?

Thanks for all your help...I'll add my own experiences, as well. Oh, and before I forget, even if the strain(s) that you list has more than one benefit, it's a-okay. I will list the strain under all the applicable categories.

And remember, I need strain names, too!

As a notable ICmag member, Megas, pointed out, "t should be noted that of course Indica and Sativa have varied effects. On a strain by strain basis one might not produce the same effects for 2 different people." Keep this in mind if you are planning on using these guidelines!

Peace & love,

Thanks for the tip cateros. There are a few on the list that are offered by different breeders, you are right. So if you are giving us a strain that is offered by different breeders, please give us the name of the breeder, as well.

:thank you:

Actually been thinking about this and to really make this work really well for specific conditions the following information is needed as well

Strain

Breeder

length of veg time I have found that plants grown from seed need to be allowed to begin to preflower to get the highest quality bud from it or if you use clones ,It just seems the more mature the plant is when it flowers the better it will be.

Trichrome color at time of harvest from all trichs clear to all trichs amber

Dry and cure method used ,personally I use jars and burp like most do but I try to leave the buds to sweat for as long as possible between burps so as to prevent mold but also to let it ripen in its own oils as much as possible (The very best bud I have ever smoked is cured this way)

Menage works for me. I have epilepsy and with a steady stream of Menage , about .75 grams per day, I can remanin seizure free. Have been learning about growing and will try my first grow of Menage in the next week. I have done a lot of research and study on epilepsy and the medicinal effects of cannabis as it pertains to epilepsy. What I am trying to say is that i know more about epilepsy than I know about growing, breding etc. That said, it is the CBD that works wonders for epilepsy or any other form of spacticity. It acts as a sort of grease or primer on the neuro receptors and transmitters, ensuring no covulsions triggered from mis-firing recptors or transmitters. It is much like the way albuterol sulf works on the alvioli in the lungs of someone with asthma. It prevents spasms in the alvioli. CBD can be said to prevent spasms of sorts in the brain. Now, it is not just the CBD as most of us know, the THC and CBD work in concert with one another for the effects you feel. However, from everything I have ever read it seems that the CBD is truly the compound with anti convulsant qualitites. That being said, it would not work without THC. So their you have it.

Very true cbd does help to prevent serizures but Thc is a neural protectant that will help to protect your brain from any damage that can be caused by a grand mal

Well some of those characteristics are objective. I find that some strains do better when they go longer. For example, I grew out a Mandala #1 twice; one I pulled at 7 weeks, the recommended time, and one pulled at 8-9 weeks. I liked the 8-9 weeks better. I also grew out a C99 cross, NCDG, and it was very good at 9 weeks, but I think I should have pulled it earlier.

This thread is really only meant to be a starting point. Meaning that you look at the list, pick a strain that sounds interesting, and then go from there. Ask the members about how that strain is "best" grown, and hopefully you'll find a good pheno that works for you and your needs.
