Those Masuks look great, Raco. I hope that you find a nice pistillate individual. I'm waiting for the Diesel to spread around here for a long time now. And the wait seems to be finishing at last! More Spanish growers made their orders to SeedBay this season, and lots of seeds with Chem/Dawg lineage are being sprouted.

Bacchus, I'm with you on the prediction for the Masuks. I would like to think that they are selfed: this is certainly expected from the Chem/Dawg, and the phylotaxy is also very similar.

How hot is it? I would think that the more indica(fat leafed plants) would have more challenges with high heat. Nature of the leaf, right? The more thinner leafed sativas come from hot and humid zones. While the fat leafed come from zones that receive less sun.

Not exactly less sun. As I see, the real challenge for the more indica plants is humidity. These plants come from areas where the weather is very arid during all the growing season. The fat structure (not only leaves, but petioles and stems) prevents dehydration in dry growing evironments with plenty of bright sunlight (sierra weather with high UV radiation due to altitude).

Of course, when the fat plant tissue is tender, it can get burned easily if abruptly moving the plants outdoors when the sun is very bright (even indoors under HID lamps). All in all, indica plants thrive about as well as sativa once stablished with high heat and bright sun, but only if the weather is dry.

Hope it helps.

PS: I wish you good luck, Boris!

I am worried about the Cascadia I have outside. She/He is close to a street light. I hope she does not have a hard time in flower or I might go commando with the pellet gun :D

random 00 - im discussion indoor temps :D the sun doesnt affect it - also humidity is under controll.

the truth is plans do get damage in the leafs at these high temps we have down here. its normal many plants diw from heat shock.

we live in a very HOT place. - imagine the Zahara - we live just a stones-throw away from it.

the only think i really think is causing it is the proxomity to the lights.. should get a cool tube some day hehe lets see :D

summer here is anyway MADE for outdoor growing.. should just give up on the indoors for the summers - really :D

peace all!

My pleasure, Raco. There you go:

This genetics might be considered paradigmatic for growing in arid environments. On the other hand, it produces the weakest plants with respect to fungal infections. If any humidity (whether in the ambient or in the soil) persists for a while, the plants will start to show some symptoms.

In this case, I see minimal damage (leaf tips not developed properly), which might be interpreted as the excessive humidity condition was minimized properly and very soon, possibly before the symptoms were even noticeable. This talks very well about your growing skills and dedication, Raco. Growing true Afghan genetics outdoors in the north of Spain is a challenge for any grower: these hash plants are like cactus; their worst enemy is constant humidity.

Hey, bonecarver_OG

In my experience, air cooled reflective hoods are a must in most parts of southern Spain when growing indoors during the summertime. Last summer I flowered a crop in a closet during July and August under a 600 watts lamp with cool tube. Temperature was between 30 ºC and 32,5 ºC (min. and max.) during the test, and there was practically no leaf damage (basically, what happens is that leaves can not transpire as fast as needed). Also, this problem could be minimized by keeping the Nitrogen content and other salts of fertilizer as low as possible.

I hope this helps when facing the torrid heat next months.

Thanks and greetings,
Random

PS: This is the only plant which showed some signs of dehydration in the margins of the top leaves. It was right below the cool tube and, as you can see, it's the kind of plant which holds a lot of water. Too much to evaporate!

hello random :D

yes the low salts is my primary aproach - im using enormous amounts of distilled water to start with + that i use much less nutes than normal.

cant buy a air-cooled hood, not yet. i just dont feel like investing more in my grow for the moment and on top its too hot to think of any temporary macgyver-like solucion.

ill just sip on an other lemonade and keep putting ice in my rez :D hehe but yes - aircooled is one big priority for my next grow. i have been looking at a few designs, and there is some very nice ones indeed. the cooltube pro springs to my mind as perfect for my kind of setup :D

thanx for the input - u are very right indeed :D

BTW - i grow in coco - where i have to keep it humid all the time, this explains why the dc and x18 x dc, and ptk i have grown didnt like the humidity. however hybridized they seem to like the condicions much more.

peace all :D

I totally agree with Bacchus! I'm currently caregiver to six cardholders plus myself. The Cascadia and Love Potion have been very popular this year.
