beautiful pics!

from the breeders point of view this genetics has some interessting points

especially the seeds from the mangroves are tested for salt tolerance - when you are inside the mangroves your whole body gets covered in salt just through the wind

I was wondering how it can grow there... I know that mangroves trees are so salty, that they drop green leafs just to get rid of salt... I cant believe cannabis grows there...

Nice sativas! I hope you can get more seeds from your friend there.

Not in Casamance, but you can see they grow weed in Jinack Island which is actually like growing in the beach. I wonder if the weed there tastes like anchovy or seafood :D

On one hand they use waterholes to collect rainwater.

On the other hand the mangroves sourround the islands and build a natural barrier against evaporated salt in the air.
Mangroves as halophyta have developed more or less unique features to get rid of the Salt.
The problem is modern plants don't really need the Na+ from NaCl(Salt). The plant wants to exchange the Na+ against K+ which most plants are able to do in small scale.
Mangroves are specialised so some have pump organs which are able to do the job or use different strategies to do so.

There is and old joke here about a town where people are yokels, so they do some weird things as growing olive trees in the beach to get olives with anchovy taste, or they dress with their best suits at 18,00h to look nice in the Meteosat photo, or they place two TV, one up and one down in oreder to see the legs of the hostes.

Here you have a video about Jinack Island https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1012584912189616
