Carbon Filter for smoking?

That gas mask idea from the army surplus should really do the trick. Sounds like you solved your problem but if anyone else has the problem and wants to try it, you should. 311 (the band) uses a gas mask filter connected to a tube when they are on their tour bus. They said a friend made it for them after taking apart "the mute" which is a device you can purchase that does the same thing. No odor and no smoke comes out the other end of it, who wouldn't love that when trying to be discreet.

I still plan on trying the gas mask idea. The carbon filter seems to be working but yesterday my room did smell a little skunky........... I just don't know if it's from the smoke or the bong water that got spilled in here haha

The other problem I would have was not in the smoke I made, but in the smell created when I packed the bowl. I keep my weed in jars to keep the smell in, but once you open that jar it can stink up a room. Even if you used a carbon filter, if you stunk up your room by opening your jar, you'd be in the same boat as without a filter.

I would pack in the bathroom with the fan on and then go into my room. The smell would be evacuated as I was 'taking a shit' and then I could go back to my room and smoke worry free.

I use a rubber hose stuffed with activated carbon pellets and carbon sheets to hold it in. Wish I could upload pictures to show. Call it the black dildo.

here's what i did in the dorms. i first draped a towel over the door, so that the door wouldn't shake when people walked by and also explained to RA. then i would put a towel over the crack at the bottom and spray some febreze on it. after that i cracked the window and had a fan blowing outside. used the gatorade style "doob" tube with dryer sheets, poked 6 holes, and you are set.

we did some crazy shit to ourdorms... sealed up our windows right proper. basically we had a vornado fan blowing out the window duct taped with pizza boxes and everythiing sealing the window completely so no air could be blown in, just out through the fan. the trick here is to not block the door at all, this is your intake. smoke right in front of the window, all smoke will go out, no worries. smoked all year cigs and blunts and bongs and volcanos. the trick is to make sure you get a good seal, and to feel air pulling from the gaps in the closed door. the stronger the pull the better.

I've got a 20oz bottle, lots of small holes drilled in the bottom, about 1/3 full of activated carbon, the same stuff in the carbon filters we use for our grows. Blow through that and it definitely takes some of the funk away from the smoke. You can also pre-carbon filter your smoke if you've got a bong, cleanest smoke you'll ever have.

4 inch can filter sets on the shelf in my smoke room...it runs constantly...keeps the air nice and clean...plus my smokin room is at the back of the house away from the front door...we also keep a big can of ozuim by the front door, ready for pizza guys and mormons...but im super paranoid!!

the dryer sheet roll does work if you know how to do it. The smell you need to worry about is the smoke coming off the bowl.

The only way for it to work properly is to use a bong or bubbler and to load only which you can cash and clear in one single motion/hit. The trick is to never allow any unfiltered smoke to get away.

1. Vaporizer does make smell, while it's not quite as distinctive its still identifiable to anyone that has smoked. I used a digital volcano and still had this problem, didn't stop me from having 10+ people 50+ bag sessions though

2. My problem when I was in dorm housing wasn't the actual smoking but the smell created when breaking up the bud (Extremely stinky Sour D pheno) it would make the entire hall smell like sour diesel, half the kids on the hall liked it including luckily my RA who I smoked out at least twice a week all year.

Carbon Filter on a fan or create a negative pressure in your room with a super powerful window fan properly sealed on the window, either will work.

Figured I'd throw a few things out there that I learned while at college smoking in the dorms all day.

THE DRYER SHEET/TUBE DOESN'T WORK! I'm sorry to yell but its better for people to know instead of learning it doesn't work by getting busted. I've tried it every way possible and it might give a slight smell of dryer sheets the first time but it still smells like bud, and doesn't even help at all after the second use.

The towel under the door also DOESN'T WORK. Smoke is warm/hot, therefore it rises, and goes out the cracks ABOVE the door. Learned this one the hard way. Duct tape is a good idea, but isn't convenient at all for constant smoking.

The vaporizer absolutely does make a weed smell, just not as strong, and it doesn't seem to get stuck in things like fabric as much as smoke. If a cop came in the room ~10 min after a vape session they would absolutely know whats going on.

Stay away from smoking blunts in a dorm room unless the smell doesn't mater. We were able to smell friend's smoking a blunt 2 floors down. It also makes the room smell like SHIT.

So for stealth smoking the carbon filter really seems to be the key, and like someone said earlier, just packing enough to get one hit at a time so no smoke comes from the bowl. Negative pressure also seems like a good idea.

If there were only a way to deal with the stink of breaking up bomb buds.

This is how I make my sploofs:

What you need:
2 empty toilet paper rolls
masking tape
5+ fabric softener sheets
rubberband

1. Fit one toilet paper roll into the other
2. Tape the connecting point completely so nothing exits through the sides
3. Crumple up as many laundry sheets as you want into balls slightly larger than the sploof
4. Force them in one by one until you have about .5 inch clearing for your mouth
5. Get two sheets, put one on top of the other (fold if you want for more odor reduction
6. Place the two sheets on top of the exhaust end of the sploof and use rubber band to hold in place
7. One layer of tape around entire sploof

This has worked for me in every situation that required odor elimination. I smoked in my friend's living room with one made like this and his mom didn't notice a thing. I also smoked using this IN class a couple of times and never got caught once.

If this doesn't work for you then going with the carbon filter is probably the best bet you have.

ok mine is ghetto but it worked for me and my mom never knew i was smoking. take a paper towel tube, or tin foil tube cause apparently its tougher. stuff like 5 dryer sheets in 1 end. take an old clean sock (i used 1 that i couldnt find the match) and spray it with axe or the like. stuff that in the other end snugly. when i exhaled through it it smelled faintly like dryer sheets/axe but the sock removed all the smoke so there was no visable evidence either.
