Old school system for me:

Alpine CDA-9830, time delay, three pair out.

US Acoustics USA4080 amp to drive the corners, 4 Alpine SPR-60C
in the corners, custom built crossover for the front, no rear tweeters, natch.

2 MTX T4510, 10" subs, mounted on the rear deck, in trunk custom
built 2 chamber box, 1.25 SQFT ea., sealed. Powered by US Acoustics USX-800D.

4 GA power wire to both amps.

Total watts 770 RMS watts. Very good SQ.

105 dB max, fools be like whaaaat?

Driving is one of the few modern pleasures I enjoy. Great music
played on a quality tuned car audio system is something everyone
should experience.

Even compressed shit Mp3's sound awesome.

Great thread!

Car audio isn't appreciated at all in my home country, everyone thinks you're a "loser" if you have audio equipment in your car. Which is ridiculous. Then again most finnish people only listen to old women singing on top of a pop track.

i love a nice stereo, but have been driving rental cars for a couple years so i cant get one yet. listening to music on good speakers is one of the things that makes life special

what is considered the absolute top-of-the-line? doesnt have to be insanely loud just the best?quality

also, any brands made in the US or EU?

Well, Ground Zero Audio has been used in many of the winning EMMA sound quality competition cars. Not only do the top-tier GZ speakers sound good, they're also insanely loud when needed and also do well in SPL competitions. Rainbow's more expensive products are also very good quality.

I don't know much about US brands.

Just like the best strain of dope...eye of the beholder! From my post above:

On stage JBL 6.5 components. Ms-62c. Amazing quality, modest price

This set was the darling of 2012, they still pop up on ebay for a song! Peace

I love music, but in a car, I prefer to just hear tyres squealing and passengers screaming, stereo systems tend to drown that out somewhat :)
