L got busted 3 or 4 years after that documented grow so no, he didnt get busted cos of the pictures
When he posted the grow it was already a year old lol
However, his yard was a pretty unique shape and layout and to be honest the photos posted, i imagine, were very recognisable to locals, birds eye photos are always a bad idea, they look great but show way too much landscape for LEO to use.

IIRC, L got pinched due to fallout from HT article, and his openly bragging about his grows (which were MAGNIFICENT). His backyard was Eden.

The CSIs on TV might be able to put something like that together. They'd triangulate the location using the position of the sun and several objects in the background which they just happen to know offhand these items specific gravity and chemical structure. They also analyze a bit of dirt which luckily fell off your vehicle when they were right there to collect it. With all that it's not a problem to determine your grows location with in a specific 10,000 square are. After they determine the location of your grow a simple DNA test and some fingerprints to prove you were there are enough to get you convicted. Unfortunately they also discover the body of your wife who was murdered by you in order to collect the insurance and they convict you of both crimes. You get 20 years for whacking your wife and 50 for the heinous crime of growing pot. Book 'em Dano. (Yes I am really excited about the new Hawaii 5-0. I'm wondering if they'll have an episode featuring medical marrywanna. The McGarret character was such a prick in the original series I'm not sure if I want that to happen.)

And.....If you have any ink on you (tattoo's) cover them up as well if you're going to post pics. I don't know how many times I've had to PM someone and be like nice ink on the arm, leg, whatever how about covering it up when they post pics with their face covered up.

I don’t purchase HT but looked at that addition at the bookstore. I gave him props for the HT article but in mind wondered about the exposure. I have no idea what really happened because the last thing I know was he gave up the big back yard grows and was doing some small stuff guerrilla style. I followed one of his threads in the OD forum.
i am pretty sure i read in a few news paper articles about Ls bust that they used the pictures he posted "on his website" to help pin everything on him.... even though the garden pics were not current

update: found the articles/links again after some searching...
not gonna post them up sorry....
according to the news articles about the bust the authorities "recieved tips that he was growing in his yard and bragging & posting pictures on the internet" so some undercovers flew over the property in a helicopter and spotted some 150+ plants in the yard....they knocked on the door and L let them in to search....
so the plants outside in the yard werent directly used soley to triagulate his position... fyi

The pigs in my country have used our native language forums to pretend to be potheads, befriend people, meet them and then bust them. True story. Pictures/diaries have also been used as proof on several occasions.
I'm not saying it could or will happen here since it's much bigger and thus harder for the pigs to localize people. Just saying as it have and will happen in a small country, it might also happen in yours!

wasnt there a member here who got busted for sending weed to florida or some shit, and the guy snitched him out.
