Someone maybe paz (?) had mentioned something about archaeologists finding a precolombian blunt in the carribean near the island where cigars were invented. But other than that no. I wish there was some more definite information on this.

I think it was brought to America by an African Swallow........or maybe I saw that in a movie. :chin:

On a more series note.... In a book "The Frontiersman" about the settling of the Ohio valley Tecumseh, the brilliant Shawnee chief, made it prohibited to smoke cannabis before any battle because it made his warriors weak. I need to read that book again....some really brutal stories.

Also, can't remember where I read it, but Washington and Jefferson were Hempt farmers(as well as everyone else) and there is a quote from Washington about making sure that the male hemp plants were all culled to allow the females to become stronger smoke.

Fun reading all, thanks for making this an interesting thread.

yes zamalito, i posted on the vavilov thread. i'll repost for strained:

America

edit: btw, i am not so sure of the quality of this information, specially after the world of seeds bolivar fiasco. it would be good if the amec in spain were contacted for their sources as well.

for those too lazy to babelfish it themselves (and, of course, the blame goes squarely on altavista for the weird translation)...

The hemp arrived at America of the hand of the first human groups that colonized the continent. The finding of clothes of hemp in tombs of towns of North America demonstrates that the cannabis arrived long before at those earth that the European (something that denies some North American historians fanatically). In addition, in an island of the Caribbean that not yet could have been identified, the first cigarette of marijuana, first porro is documented. In this zone also the pure ones of tobacco were invented, and the process with the cannabis was similar: it was enough with curing meetings I wrap of tied leaves. In order to smoke they took them a leaf from I wrap and surrounded the others in her strongly putting within others and tightening them (the first mention of these cigarettes is in a Spanish report of 1561).

The first humans originated somewhere in south africa and then slowy spread out from there. That where they found the first human traits in "lucy" and "lucy's Daughter" apes with strong human features. Sorry if off topic but any disputes on that subject search for info on "lucy"
