Never did Mr. Lee walk into a room that he failed to light it up with his radiant smile, sparkling eyes and words so eloquently spoken. He is a true gentleman that I was fortunate and privileged enough to be graced by his presence on many occasions in Amsterdam. Mr. Lee is the sort of person who would have always referred to a cup as being ‘half full’ instead of ‘half empty’. Unfortunately I am not in Amsterdam right now and therefore not able to bid farewell to you in person as I would very much liked to have done, so I will say goodbye, for now, from a distance Mr. Lee because I have faith that one day we shall all meet up again. Thank you for all that you shared with us.

The image here is from a place called Leed’s Castle in England, a place I visited last summer which reminded me of what I believe Camelot must have looked like…of course there are those who would say Camelot never really existed, but if it had, I surely believe it was here. Your castle awaits to welcome you.

I am ashamed to say that I have never heard of Lee, although I will. I wish I could have met you. You sound as if you found your peace here on earth and will carry it forward, that to me is the key. We all must carry our positive energy outward at all times. This is the only way to carry it past this life and on to the next. I feel your energy even now, with all the people you have touched, it eminates from this thread.

Peace Brother have a Glorious Journey. We will meet someday I am sure of it.

Mo,

This is the kind of news I wish I would never hear. I spoke but briefly with Lee last year but his memory will be with me always. His calm smile and the wisdom in his eyes cannot be forgotten.

You will always have a place in my heart Lee. I'm sure we will meet again.

Partying with THE POET

Partying with THE POET

Well yesterday was a fine day with the Poet, almost the old Lee. He was telling jokes, smiling and happy to see so MANY friends show up (around 30 people were there all told just yesterday!!!).

Today was not so good, and many more people showed up to pay their respects. This is such a good thing. We all loved Lee, and he loves us all. It's great to have a chance to say goodbye...

And that is what I had to do late this afternoon, as I have to fly back to Spain tomorrow at 7 am; and Lee is fading fast.

I spoke to him, holding his hand, telling him everythingis going to be okay and we will always remember him with love. He woke up for the first time today and started talking to me! He kept reminding me, the book, the book the new book, don't forget Chris, the new book. He then squeezed my hand really hard, and fell back asleep...

With his son's mother, we went thru the pile he left for me. Copies of all his books and letters. I found the manuscript he was talking about, neatly typed, and perhaps untouched for twenty years, but there are notes in the back in his recent scrawl telling me how to finish the book.

His next book is titled "Witness for the Prosecution," and I am going to start editing it and getting it ready for press soon.

The balance of his material will be in Amsterdam for now. Any duplicate copies of his older works are going to the Library of Congress, where he wants them to be. The Cannabis College in Amsterdam will always have a display of his works, especially the Cannabis titles, available for anyone to see and read.

And yes, I will endeavour to keep Lee's work alive, online and in print as long as I can...

With peace and love to all from Amsterdam~

Payaso, maybe if you have the time, post one or two of Lee's poems. That would give many of us that haven't read his work a chance to do so, and give us a feel for the family member we're losing.
Thanks.

Nothing's impossible, anything's possible.
Nothing and possibility come together an infinite amount of times in a finite moment.
...This explains the birth of all things, places and all ideas, birth is the same as death - seperated by nothing but time.

May you be reborn quickly, as I hope to be.

Cannabis Poet has Checked Out

Cannabis Poet has Checked Out

It is sadly true, the Poet has left the room. He passed away on Thursday, February 17, early in the morning.

I was privileged to spend the last two days with him, his family, and a group of his special friends as we said goodbye to one of the kindliest, most peaceful people ever to walk on this planet.

One of Lee's Poems:

A FUNNY FEELING

Yeah... my mama used to say
"Son, trust in the Lord",
Yes, Ma'am... but it sounded
Funny, and I wondered, who was
That and, what did it mean...
And in all of the places that
I have been and of all the
Peoples I have met, and of all
The things I have done, and of
The stories I have heard, and
The tales I have told, I still
Don't know who that is, but
Mama was right
-Lee Bridges

We will miss him greatly, but life goes on.

There will be a celebration of Lee's life, probably on Feb. 21st in Amsterdam.

Peace to all you growers and otherwise...

No chance of any pain now.
He now has a wisdom that I can't possibly fathom, until it's my turn.
Lee can go into the light knowing that his path was truly righteous and benevolent, and that his words will reverberate for ages, that his friends are true, and that his memory will never fade to black.

To all of Lee's family and close friends, I extend my sincere condolences, as it's you who will suffer most. But today is the same as next year, the year after and the year after... It's all the same, and one day this fresh pain will be gone.

Today, tomorrow and yesterday are all the same. The only variable is our own perception of time. But time is an abstract idea, it's not real, it's a perception. So thinking that Lee's time has passed is simply not true - it's a perception. Don't percieve Lee to be gone, percieve him to be temporarily inaccessible to you. Like he's on vacation in Nepal or something. His moon is new, and therefore not visible. Bring on the waxing moon!

peace and tranquility,
cc

How I will always remember him.

How I will always remember him.

DG, that is a lovely picture and the Camelot you envision does exist but not on this world. Thank you for letting me know yesterday because I was praying for my dad to meet Lee. Then I got your pm that he had passed.

Nam Myoho Renge Kyo means devotion to the highest universal law which is the basis of reality. Enlightenment comes in this life if you learn what the artists, poets, writers and musicians of this world tell you.

Men like Lee have insight most don't have and they want to share what wisdom they have. The creativity of these people always amazes me. Have you ever read any of his work? It's Startling in its reality.

I will remember him by this pic I took of him last year at our cup. His signature and message written to me make this book one of my greatest treasures. Mrs. BOG started reading it and after a short time she said, "he's really good." I told her that he was a great man worthy of recognition and love because his books live forever. I mean forever. :D

Remember Lee like this...DG is right about his presence. When he entered a room everyone smiled like he was a wizard or something great. I felt it and perhaps I captured something very real in this picture. Can you see his inner goodness and peace? A Guru, A Master, A Man.

You can't mourn a success like this!!!

Save a place for me Lee... BOG

Lee Bridges,
Words are immortal.

Shakyamuni Buddha says, that the buddhas written words are the Buddhas mind. All Life is equal. Lee Bridges' words are a reflection of his mind and will live on eternally as well, just as all Buddha's live on eternally.

Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, a ship to cross the sea of suffering.

It's Easy, he said...

It's Easy, he said...

Lee left the room early Thursday morning, surrounded by his family and close friends. His last words to his former wife Mariette were:

"It's easy."

I could not bring myself to take pictures of him at the end, but do have this one picture that tells the whole story...Lee is leaving the room with the support of his son Jonathon.

Lee spent many happy hours in this garden, spreading the joy of cannabis to all who were listening.

You too can visit this garden, at the Cannabis College in Amsterdam, where they have all of Lee's cannabis-related works archived, and available for people to read.

Before Lee left, I was able to read a few of your messages to him, especially BOG's. He said that it was 'beautiful." And indeed it was. There is a memorial book at the Cannabis College for all his friends to leave a message in, and this thread has been printed out and included into the book.

Your messages will be preserved for the future, along with his brilliant work.

Peace and Love to all,
Chris / Payaso

Oh and yes, have a toke for the Poet! He would have wanted you to have some of his favourite Hashish!!! Moroccan...

He always said "us smokers have to cough it up, it's good for the health to cough."

SmiLee...

SmiLee...

The last time I met Lee, in the Sensi Coffeeshop, was October 6, 2004.
I know so because he proudly presented me a copy of his last book:"Me,Two"

He showed me where he had mentioned me in his dedication page, and signed the copy before he handed it to me. He was happy about his new release, but we did not get much time to chat, he was swallowed by a group of friends that enterde the place. He left me with a wide smile, as always.
I will remember him behind the last smile he gave me, as the cheerfull lover of life he was.

My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and all others that loved him.

Farewell, SmiLee.
