I love them, they are heavy yielding and cool to watch grow, only problem with them is they are a little slower and there's a risk of mold. After the tri's, these are my next project.
Here's the latest thread, though under threat of being banned I had to delete my pics, as anything not available through seedbay was a breach of the TOU for a while. https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=53476
Interesting. Posted a thread in the infirmary trying to figure out what this was and got linked to this thread.
I've got a Blue Cheese (Big Buddha's) going right now that has some fasciation going on. Everything I just read says I just cull it....
But I've only got 2 plants. And she's got about 8-10 tops to her, only 1 of them has the fasciation. Would it be beneficial to trim off some of that extra leaf early on?
At the very least this can be a little experiment to determine if it effects the quality of bud on the whole plant or just the branch that's got the fasciation, because it seems that a *mostly* common consensus is that fasciation produces a lower quality product, am I right?
Ah, well. Pictures. In the last picture, the branch with the fasciation is the top left one, almost no pistils on it that are visible due to the thick growth.
I've been under the impression that Thais carry the trait.
A friend of mine has a super fasciated Juicy Fruit Thai x Sugar Blossome and I've seen this fascation thing show up in a couple of the Blueberry lines and crosses I've grown. I also read about some breeder types that were working with these types of plant but can't recall where. I believe they mentioned something about this "fasciation" phenomenon being centered in the Thai strains as well. Probably where I get the idea that's where it's from.
I dont really like it. All of those Pistils will need to be trimmed off. They dont have any THC in them. I will see whats what when she is done but If I had a choice I would rather have a normal bud..
Damn. I noticed it in veg, but didn't really think anything of it. Ran into this and kinda smacked myself in the head. I don't have a problem with removing it, really, it's just the whole 2-weeks-in-flowering part.
Do not want a stunted/shocked plant right now. I ask because I *slightly* over-vegged. Removing that branch would allow me to reposition others to allow for more light penetration.
erb, roughly what % of the plant would u be removing by cutting the fasciated branch? less than 25%?
i would be hacking the entire plant to remove the fasciation.... not gonna do it here, i'd rather let this lady play out.
A pretty small percentage. Maybe 15-20%? I circled the growth from the branch in question. The 2nd picture was just taken last night, so you can see how far along flowering has progressed:
Clones taken from the Faciated plant I mentioned earlier seem to carry the trait after some time. Unfortunately I dont think the Cut my friend has will be around long since she seems to be tossing nanners around 68 days. I take that as her signaling that she's done even if she appears to want to keep chuggin along.
Pics of mom to follow soon. I was told I needed a few more posts.
