i was recently asked about pruning and training by a friend here at IC... this happens to be a heavy training period for my outdoor girls so i thought i would piece together a small training tutorial for her here in my thread... i by no means claim my methods as the best... i have however put over 2 decades into field and closet research and i know what works for me...
first off... removing leaves... every leaf on the plant is a carbohydrate factory, every one removed, diminished the plants ability to feed itself, as a whole... i only remove them where necessary.. for light penetration or air penetration.. i bend some out of the way but prefer to remove any inner leaves pointing towards the center stem of the plant... this eliminates that crazy, tangled, inner jungle.. opening up room for air and light to penetrate to the inside of the plant... 'sucker growth' as the tobacco industry calls it, are the little leaves and branches, typically off the lower, apical stem and lower secondary branches.. that never fully develop and should be removed...
i'm a big believer in low stress training and supercropping simultaneously ... every branch/top/cola on my girls, can be placed exactly where i want it to be, in relation to lighting/sun, reflective hoods, walls, surrounding foliage for camo... and most importantly to allow secondary, lateral growth to fully develop into primary, vertical growth...full size branches with cola's, secondary nugs, and popcorn, all their own... consider the math in your head for a moment... my bud site and growth potential has now exponentially increased...

this is 'red', from above... in a 25 gl. pot, next to her, a horizontal trellis that will be shared by 'red', blue, and some lemon cucumber vines... should make for some cool pics.
this is a branch growing under the trellis, called screen of green(ScROG) by many, but just a form of LST to me... and another LST'd above the trellis with bailing wire... as you can see, the lateral growth on that secondary stem is now becoming primary growth due to the fact that auxin production is now minimal or spread out... not sure
these are branches staked into a horizontal, circular pattern, creating more of the same vertical growth, from lateral bud sites...

it's the jumbo illuminator from pro-source... i've spoken with the guy who makes them on the phone... he was very cool and gave me some advice on leaf temp as well as light distance in veg vs. bloom... both, on point.

i used rain water for a week to cut my hybrid nutrient solution for 'yellow' and 'white' thinking that the tap water at 0.5 ec in the rez would be enough for cal. mag. support... apparently i was wrong, i got a quick onset of magnesium def. ... i did a light foliar of epsom salt at 1 tsp gl. on the leaves and went back to my tap water routine... all seems well.
i wonder if the leaves blown out by the def. still photo synthesize...?
with the onset of the def. i decided to up the girls nutrient intake to 2.0 ec... 0.5 of which is my tap water....
opera season is upon me and work is kicking my ass...

Ive sent my 4 Cannabis girls into flower & i gotta say im very please with Alpha's gear thus far... I Have 2 Alph Snowdawg Bx just about done & 1 is insane and def a keeper... Its reaks like hawaiian punch...
Im leavin for vaca in a few days & will def take pics of these cannabis to share when i return... not much to see now...

got 'em again... 3rd bloom since i combined the HPS and the LED... moving under the 1k after this indoor harvest and gonna flower with the eye blue hortilux a couple rounds... than switch to the HPS for a couple rounds and see what differences i can pick up on... still gonna use the LED of course and see if i can replicate the fluffy bunnie buds... on slightly larger scale...
i get some red cherry berry from my provider next week...

yeah i'm happy also you get red cherry berry....my grow still well for now at 10 day today and coming 2° internode now, they look nice..for now and i hope also after ah ah, this week i start the thread about red cherry..and wite rhino, for this grow i choice also 5 white rhino , all 5 w.r. coming .. i miss only one red c.b.from germinate, all are female, for this time i put in flower time very soon bro after 3 day veg. only, because i need to control the high, last time the fucki..shit burmese kush give me really problem about high and for this time i try give 12/12 fast we can see soon how they coming !!

... i had a gnarly battle with bud flop this week... both girls just folded. i have a very well ventilated little area here, it happened big time with 'white' last run. i failed to consider that bud size may have been affected by seed production... they bulked up quite a bit more this round. 'yellow' flopped with 'white'. they're leaning on a make shift rack of sorts...

she's been transplanted into a 3gl. smart pot with my coco/perlite blend... and flipped into the flower tent... a growlab 5x5 with an eye hortilux blue MH 1K in a 6" magnum xxxl vented hood... i plan on adding the LED soon...
this was the previous mom... she's gonna be 3rd in the flower tent... about 4 weeks out... currently feeding on PBP grow, PBP bloom, liquid karma, aqua shield, and general organics CaMg+ at a 2:1:1:2:2 ratio in aerated tap (ec 0.5)...cut to an ec < or = 2.0

the new room is pretty f'n dialed during lights on... with both veg and flower rooms lingering around 77f... veg at 16 hours, flower at 11...
lights off temps are too low..
getting into the low 50's the last 2 night... i think i have it solved but won't know till tomorrow tonight...
