has anyone heard of quebec pluton or the pluton x friesland cross known as "freezeland" ? I used to hear it called freezeland all the time.but just assumed it to be broken telephone.

Beanhoarder has a version/crosses at HD and real gorilla seeds has a version/crosses as well.

Black tuna I always assumed was also canadian.

Black Tuna was created in BC, cross of herijuana and lambsbread is the usual story. Named after the Black Tuna gang, infamous for smuggling pot from BC to the states. Putting the bud in cans to market the variety was brilliant. Tuna Kush as far as I know is just a bastardization of the original name.

Shiskaberry should probably be included, especially as there's already two crosses listed (barbara bud is shiskaberry x afghan, nuken is skiskaberry x god bud).

LUI (legends ultimate indica) is missing from the list, although it was created in Switzerland by Canadian breeders but then incredibly popular among Canadian croppers. So have fun figuring out if that fits the criteria, Moutain Jam came from the same breeder though (Legend Seeds) so it probably should.

Dman's Super Silver Spice, Black Spice and Orange Spice were all popular on Cbay back in the day and had cult like followings from those that grew them.

Then there's Dr Greenthumb and his Endless Sky seeds or Iranian Indica mom, which is still some of the best weed I've smoked to this day.

Steve Tuck brought the black tuna cut to Canada and into the hands of the bc medical community. There was a small group of breeders that consisted of both Canadian and American growers in the steve tuck/black tuna connection. The rest of your post is true to the story. The breeder's name was rocky mountain "something" …. I have forgotten
as far as I know, tuna kush is a black tuna cross. Maybe Charles Scott could clear that one up. I was under the impression tuna kush was his cross.
Tuna Kush is a lot more aromatic and stronger than the black tuna cut itself. I've worked with the original cut for several years and only recently completed a cubing process and a large batch of Black Tuna BX1 for the folks that brought me the cut for breeding.
My early grow threads on this forum have some nice examples of Black Tuna from clone to harvest.

Thanks for elaborating, where does Five Star Organic fit into the picture as they're usually credited on most sites but I assume that's a partial truth at best.

I'm not sure exactly but I believe the breeding group referred to themselves as 5 star organics. My connection is thru the former members of what was called Mary Jane's Garden , which was a cannabis blog of sorts and an early source for edibles, oils and bud sealed in fish cans.

There is more to the story and probably some myths too. One is that Michael J Fox was a big fan of the Black Tuna in the early days of experimenting with cannabis for his medical condition and that is one of the storys explaining how/why it was brought to Vancouver.
I've also hear it was bred in BC but the folks that brought me the cut tell me otherwise.

in the end, I don't really know, so just go with what I have been told by the old heads I did the breeding work on the BX for.

Death Bubba and Island Pink Kush are worthy to be added to the list.

The Island Pink Kush is just a different older version its Darker as its Dad was C-kush the Lighter Colour later version I used a MK ultra Father as we lost the C-kush The mk version in a f-1 was called Ultra king and I won 2011 treating yourself cup with it .
The Pink Kush was always a Bx1 or BX 2 to the king for example the darker island Version was C-kush x King x King .
I will attach a picture of 2.4 acres of Pink Kush used in the selection of the new Ultimate Pink Kush and come flowers we had some throw back to the King Pheno with all the Pink hairs for some reason when we Bx 1-2 we usually loose the Pink hairs except in cold conditions

The last 2 pics are the parents of Red Congolese the landrace Congolese and the Afghani x Acapulco god father just for reference and a finished bud !

No, it doesn’t work that way.

Foreign companies on HCs approved list of starting materials aren’t allowed to sell seeds retail in Canada. I know this for a fact as we have been exporting seeds to Canada for the last few years. Imported seeds or cannabis can’t be sold recreationally.

All cannabis products on retail shelves must be produced in Canada.

for now...…

the current situation will remain fluid as other nations are legalizing and inevitably cannabis and cannabis products from other countries will be available in Canada. The lobbying for this has been long and strong and will only continue. Believe me, the Lieberal government hungers for dollars and monopolies so if importing cannabis is something they can control, manipulate and profit from ….. being the Liberanos that they are.

all that is lacking is the infrastructure and regulation.... it's being worked on as we speak.

Yes, for now. For this dilemma to be solved would require the UN to dismantle or amend the 1961 Single Convention Treaty, and set a new global drug policy

We are minimum 5 years away from recreational use, international trade of Cannabis. I would wager 10 is even a stretch; these things take time.

Any Canadian gov worth its recognizes that Canada's current economic benefit replies on us being a net exporter of cannabis, not importer. They'll fight for treaties that benefit our net interests imo.
