Can you use marijuana like chewing tobacco or snuff?

I was wondering if anyone had experience in this. I read a case report of a guy who took a pinch of kief and held it in his upper lip, like tobacco.

How well does this work with cannabis? Has anyone tried it? I think this would be awesome..

You get really buzzed from that - I will pop a bud if the smoke smell could be a problem.

As it wets and breaks down you get the most amazing head and body stone.

Warning - eating uncooked pot can cause digestive issues due to silica hairs being an irritant.

But it's worth it

Wallstreet - are you talking about eating, or just letting it sit there in your mouth???

Between cheek and gum - just like chewin' tabacky.

But once it's good and pulpy - you can swallow the balance.

It is good buzz - I recommend

Damn dude. How come this isn't used more often? Seems like the perfect way to use marijuana, without the smoke?

The question is though, do you have to swallow it? Or do you just get the buzz while its there?

Holy crap... check this out:

3. Marijuana chewing-induced improvements in Parkinson's disease
E Ruzicka
P-TU-136

This case report documents motor improvements from daily chewing of a single marijuana leaf in a 72-year-old man with Parkinson's disease. The patient was taking 400 mg levodopa/day when he began on marijuana, and continued his levodopa dose unchanged. After two months, he reported improved tremor and bradykinesia. He has continued for five years, with loss of benefit during two treatment suspension periods, and regain of benefit with recommencement of treatment. The author notes the patient has an unusually benign course of PD, that marijuana leaves have a different concentration and distribution of active ingredients than marijuana flowers, and that chewing is likely to produce different effects than smoking.

Okay, I may be onto something. This guy only chewed ONE marijuana leaf. I wonder how other ailments would be helped by chewing. Maybe I should put this into the medical section, which I will...

I realize chewing is kinda looked at weird, but I think its cool. But I wonder if chewing is different than just letting it sit in your cheek. Like, does chewing let your gums absorb the thc, or does it just go into your digestive tract.

heat... activating THC...?
Alcohol in a tincture doesn't require heat either... could someone please elaborate for us? I guess I really don't know everything after all.

No doubt, I've always heard eating/chewing on it had absolutely no affect at all.......

edited to add.....without cooking it.....or adding to alcohol.....

I just put some green crack in like five min ago and i feel it mainly my bottom lip stinging thats more prominent than the slight fade that its braught on i was sober before this honestly dont waste your weed i wish i had rolled this nug up

dry it out and smoke it, stop eating it.
from what i've gathered, a humans metabolism is not fast enough to process buds unless they are heated(i'm not sure about the alcohol thing) but i know that is why dogs are affected by raw marijuana and humans are not. i wouldnt waste my weed

Yep, it works really well. If you keep a cough drop or candy in with it there is absolutely no smell. If you swallow it it isn't a problem. You can keep a steady control of your dose.

You do need to de-carboxylate it for it to be active. The way we do it is to grind it (shake for a light effect, bud for heavy), then put it in a mylar or oven roasting bag on 350 F for 10 minutes, let completely cool before opening bag. Use just as you do Skoal. Absorbs thru the skin in your mouth, works a little slower than smoking and faster than eating. You can also make drops by putting it with a hard candy or caramel recipe.

This author, nan, heated the weed first. I think its possible it might work without heating it, but that it really would probably need to be ground up like he said, and used like that. I think if you just pop a nug in your lip, it may take a lot longer to feel anything. And if you only have it in for 5 minutes, thats just the beginning of the buzz. Same thing with tobacco, the buzz doesn't start for 5 minutes or so, at least in my experience using swedish snus.

I wish I had bud as I would be doing this experiment.

I take dried and cured weed into my body - sans heat.

The decarboxylization is required to activate the thc - this is done in the drying/curing step.

Putting a bud in your mouth - soaking and sucking on it does cause your lip/mouth to tingle, and then the stone progresses from there.

I swallow the remaining pulp once the buzz is on - the stomach processes the rest.

This isn't rocket science - and it isn't bullshit either. How can we have so many pot smokers here, and no one has done this.

C'mon kids - eat a bud. It is different than smoking it, but the buzz is awesome.

hey wallstreet!
chewing a bud is cool, if you haven't chewed a bud yet, you ain't cool :D
you know the left overs from rolling a spliff? i chew that and eat it before lighting the spliff up. cooking is tricky, eating it straight is easier to control doses. back in the day, here in venezuela, eating a spliff burning halfway when the popo approaches is the best way to go about to dispose of your bud when you are smoking at a public place/park, because you'll get high still, much better than throwing it away and maybe popo finding it.
peace!

That's only because alcohol absorbs THC which is then absorbed by your body.

So we've established that you can indeed use it like chew, but I can almost guarentee that it cannot be used like snuff. Can you imagine doing a line of shake?
