Yeah, don't waste your time with that bulb...it's extremely inefficient for growing under.

Multiply your cost per KWH x .2 x the number of hours the bulb will be on and you'll have your cost.

What size is your grow area and what's your plans for it? The lighting you choose will need to match your grow area...

Sandman. Is that the cost for a 200w? so a 400 would multiply by .4? Thanks

^^Yup...the middle number is the KW's of lights that you're running....ie if you're running 1k of light, then you would multiply by 1, 1200w would be 1.2, etc. Check out sproutco's link, it's basically the same thing.

IMO go with the second choice..CFL light can't penetrate the foliage so well, so you could hang 8 of them around the plant(s) and get good results. Like here:

Go with the 200w instead of all those little ones. It'll save you ALOT of setup time and there are less parts to break down. It will use a standard mogul socket.

just 1 to 2 plants not that many, I got a set of CFl's today, one was a 42 Watt +150 watt equivalent (incandescent) and 2 were 24 inch fluoreos that were 20 watts each, Ill post pics soon... the 42 watter is really damn bright and my friend who is growing it doesnt want to see it on all the time because he says it drives him to insanity. I wouild not think it a problem to vision or at least would wear sunglasses for some good homegrown MJ.

Where is a good source for those standard mogul sockets MTF_Sandman? Which ones
do people generally prefer to use?

The cheapest place is an electrical supply house...I wanna say I've seen them in a Lowes though. Besides that any hydro or lighting shop should have them...then there's Ebay also.

I prefer the 5K sockets (pretty standard on newer hoods)...brand really doesn't matter IMO as they're probably all made in the same factory in India and then just brand relabelled like alot of other products.

lol...nah, I just use 1K's so I don't have to mess with all the BS of tiny bulbs and tiny buds.

The health of the plants depends on alot more factors than just the amount of light and source of it...
