CAN FILTER AND AIR FLOW

Hi,
I'm in a strange situation where I began a grow in a room designed "by others"
The air/filtration system is not what I would expect, the can filter being on the exterior of the room. flex pipe is run through the light hoods, out of the room, and into the filter outside the room.
I would think this would be good for the heat, but is it doing anything for odor I wonder.?
I also encountered several weird things.
*I put my hand over the intake expecting to feel suction, but the air was blowing outward
** so I removed the flex pipe leading into the filter and the air was also blowing out of that pipe, but when I put a tissue over the filter the filter is sucking air in.?

So basically I'm finding all flex pipe ports are blowing air out and the filter is sucking air in???

And shouldn't the can filter be inside the room??

I attached a schematic..I hope I was clear... Please help.

Thanks You!!

Hey man the filter should be in your room so it can deal with the smell

when your using cooled reflectors you really want the ventilation to be independent from your grow room.

Ideally you would be taking cooler air from outside the grow room, through the light hoods and then outside, never touching your grow room atmosphere. You would then want a separate outake from the tent with the filter inside on the end taking air in, you don't really want air blowing out your filter.

If your using a tent, you need to get some homebox flanges and cut two holes int he side of your tent. More recent tent producers are starting to include these extra holes.

You guys are awesome...I have to digest this and get back..

Also, this is not a tent this is wood framed I will post some pics.

Thanks you very much!

That's the thing, when I remove the pipe going into the filter air is blowing out so I reattach the pipe expecting to feel air blowing out of filter but it is not blowing out the filter is sucking. I put tissue on it and the tissue gets sucked on.

hold a tissue to the end of the pipe.

Depending on the extractor, it should have directions for intake and outtake.

Found problem..one fan was reversed...Time to reconfig. things
I will take the four large fans, use two to vent heat and two to run air through filter which I will put inside the room.

Thank you guys!

sounds like you got the idea and you have it figured out. Feel free to shoot some more diagrams if you need second opinions.

I will simplify things...I have 6 1000w hps in this room, but I will only show two in any diagram for clarity purposes.
thanks

pictures speak more than 1000 watts, oops i mean words. I can understand if you don't want pictures of a 6000w room online though

I'm back..
The room is 13'x15'x 8'ht.

Right now I have 4 fans, 6 1000w hps, and a large can filter

Currently all 4 fans are sucking are in through the filter on the EXTERIOR!!! They are blowing this scrubbed air in and over the lights and then out...

I want to use two fans to vent the lights and two fans for the filter the air..two separate loops.

Hopefully my diagrams will show how things are and what I propose to do.

I look forwad to hearing from you, thank you!

give me a mo and i will draw a diagram. I apologies in advance for the child like scretch you will see.

Ideally we want as little bends as possible from intake to exhaust, bends reduce airflow.

To be honest, your intake hole on the roof i would move to the side wall, so it is one flowing line, you will need to keep into consideration if lights are being lowered/raised.
