Can anyone recommend a afghani?

Hello, i was looking to grow an afghani next year in ontario Lat 43. If anyone has information on there afghanis it would be much appreciated. Flowering time is most important then potency, yield and smell in that order. If youve grown more then 1 affie breeds can you tell me which 1 was the best. Thanks in advance.

Never grown Afghani but I can say that Sensi's MLI is considered to be one of the better ones out there. Check out Durga Mata from Paradise Seeds too. I dont think you could go wrong with either one personally.

No I have never grown an Afghan but those 2 are both good based on reports I have read over the years.

Im reading some reports now they say the MLI take around 60 days to flower which is a lil to long for me.

I've grown Sensi Afghani and it was genuinely finished in 45 days of flowering time, this was indoors. The smell was a reeking stench that was noticable through 2 ziplok bags once it was dried. Yield was low but I may have just got a low yielding clone, a better yielding mother could be found with a little effort. Potency was waaay up there, especially if you like getting knocked the fuck out after one bong. Not good daytime smoke unless you enjoy sitting around looking like you have taken valium.


The other Afghani I have grown was Afghani'1 from Nirvana, I think its an afghani crossed with a skunk, Im not sure. This was also a cracking strain, not as good as the Sensi affy but still a very good plant all the same. I also grew this indoors and it took about 55 days to finish, yield was huge and potency was a bit more forgiving than the sensi affy inthe respect that you could smoke it and actually still function as a human being. The smell was still distinctly afghani but not as in yer face as the sensi affy.


You cant go wring with either I'm sure theres a lot more good affys out there too, check out some of Reefermans stuff I think he works with some affys if im not mistaken and all his gear is 1st class.

Thanks Bram, i was very curious about sensi afghani. Do you know what % of trichomes were amber when you chopped, the 45 days has me sold. I am aware of all the afghanis out there the only problem is the strain discriptions are not so accurate as we all know Anyone know about reefers highland afghani or petrolia headstash?

Afghani #1 , MLI from Sensi and Devil from Mr Nice , all 3 top shelf indies with a foggy red eye´d couchlock stone ... , the Sensi things vegging the slowest of those 3 ... , there´s no sk#1 influence to make em faster growing ..

I heard Homegrown Fantaseeds Afghan is excellent. It's fairly cheap too. Other then that Deep Chunk is probally the best Afghan can get if you can get it.

Cf i wouldnt buy anything from HGF , thats the same rip off seed bank as Barney´s,Nirvana´s,White& Black label ... go with Sensi Seeds and youll be fine ,
Dc is killer to say the least , cant comment on the taste ... dont know how to put in words ...
All those indie´s will flower from 7-10 weeks (50-70days , depending on how you want the trichs )

HGF Afghani is ok. Nice bushy plants, but the bud tends to smell like cat piss. Potency is pretty good but nothing special. This is outdoor, results could very well be different indoors.

I've only tried 3 different (supposedly) pure 'ghani strains. KC Brains' version totally sucked, HGF was ok, and the other isn't commercially available.

Please clarify, this sounds like total BS to me.

How are HGF related to those others? Barney's first set of strains came from Reeferman, Nirvana are a seperate company altogether from HGF and White Label are owned by Sensi Seeds so what are you on about?

Deep chunk is the afghan to have at the moment

I like Sensi Seeds, Silver Pearl definitely an under appreciated strain.

Sensi Afghani#1 is pretty good better if someone who cares grew it but still pretty good grown by a hack in my experience.

White Label is just sensi's knock off division BOG found sourB in double gum over years of working with it so the tale tells so white label aren't all bad in my books Sour B one of my all time favourites.

I've avoided HGF because I don't really know why there isn't really that much word of mouth about their gear. I like to hear good things about strains before i buy generally although i have been known to go into uncharted waters if something catches my fancy the possibility of an unplucked gem as it were.

It is difficult to make yourself an overall picture of the strain and breeder scene based on what you hear in the forums.
Let's face it, people have preferences, people are biased to a certain degree, and much of what is said is third degree "I heard that someone said that..."

When Overgrow went down, a large number of American and Canadian growers migrated to ICmag, to the point that they now represent more than 60% of the memberships, even if IC is a Dutch-based site.
American tokers are not as good on the European scene as the American/Canadian scene (of course), and they like to promote and hype their endemic strains.
The reason why East Coast Sour Diesel, OG Kush, Trainwreck or whatever American clone-only strain impossible to get in Europe are hyped to death on a European-based site reflects just that kind of majority ethnocentrism.
If a killer strain was developed by Bulgarian or Romanian growers, do you think you would hear about it? Do you know what kind of genetics Japanese growers cultivate?

Most hyped and recommened strains often vary between cultivation sites. Here on IC, Rezdog's close cooperation with Gypsy makes the site a good platform for promoting his Sour Diesel genetics (which are killer, this said by a first hand source!), and ICmag therefore has a lot of Sour Diesel threads.

At Planetganja, Gad & co like to promote Paradise Seeds strains (which are one of the site's main sponsors I believe), and the number of PS strain threads and recommendations are way higher than here.

I often cruise the French and Spanish cultivation sites, and the strains recommended there are totally different from those recommended here. Funny isn't it?

Homegrown Fantaseeds are not often pimped here at ICmag, but for Amsterdam growers it's an old and respected seedbank. Some of their strains are old Positronics genetics, such as the Original Misty, which I grew a couple of years ago. A great White Widow variety with a sweet candy aroma, killer yield and easy to grow qualities. A top of the line strain!

I under stand that indicas will flower 50-70 days but i need to know exact days because im cutting it close here with the frost. I would get deep chunk but it yields way too low for me, i would have to grow 100's of plants. I enjoy hearing everyones 2 cents but i find the most accurate information comes from those who have actually grown the strain. Though i apprceciate you guys giving me some insight. Right now im thinking about Afghani #1 from sensi and i might pick up afghani dream from BCSC. Can you tell me the make up silver pearl, didnt kno it had afghani. Maybe someone whos grown fantana afghani can chime in. Thanks for comments.
