sloppy seconds, it'll eventually get root bound and wont grow, but when u take clones they'll grow back, because the root mass is > the plant mass so it spurs growth to balance it out.

Speaking of Mother plants and cloning, how long can you keep a mother?
wont it continue to grow and need a larger and larger pot? or will it kinda stop growing roots and live well in the same container?
sorry about the noobness...thanks.

I sometimes can keep a mother going for up to a year but seldom go past 9 months before I take cuts for the new mother patch.

I transplant many times through it's life. I start by only half loading the first pot. Later I pull the mass and add the second half to the pot and drop it back in. Every couple of months I'll transplant to larger pots.

I find once my mammas hit that older age and they have given me 100's of cuts they start to get woody and you start seeing the 3 leaf sets and such. Transplanting does little to help. It's time to start over.

I've been taking clones from clones and haven't noticed any bad effects. The perlite/wick cloner I found on here lets me just keep rooted clones around for about as long as you want. The just sit there not growing or anything... just waitin'. Pretty easy.
