C99 "Tipping" the tops at 3 weeks flower

Postman says, "tipping" the tops early in flower Make for what looks like FAT bud mass. Makes like a "crown" shaped top which I think will prove to equal higher yield? We'll see... peace.

What exactly did you do?

I cut the top 1/4 in. off of two tops on the same plant. I picked 4 tops equal in size, cut two, left two, so I can compare 4 sure. I read it on a thread posted by the Postman... I'll see if I can link u 2 it. I think its in Flowering pics under PPP...It's :Mister Postman/ Nirvana PPP (Purple? In the Flowering pics fourm. Ck it out.Peace Rock Bud@6 weeks.

had to "tip" the cola on one of my NLs last grow cause it hit the light. Def. was bigger than all the others.

I see it as maybe doing good. It would be a good way to make all the tops at an even canopy too.

I Had it happen to me by way of cut worm, not by choice. End result was a much fatter, sort of "crowned" shapped. it's just like "topping",4 bushing out your plants, only you top the tip of the buds an watch them bulk out. I kinda already believed this, didn't really have the balls to go start topping all my central colas. Then I read Mister Postmans thread... I started small, but I tipped a few... gotta grow some balls sometime RIGHT??? peace

halts upward growth and fattens everything up nicely, idea is ok but i wouldnt cut 1/2-1 gram from tops of my nugs i want that for smoking also lol

Has there been any sort of conclusive result on this? I know a few people were trying it out as a technique, but I haven't really heard any direct comparisons in dried weight yet.

Hey everyone... the Kali I tried it on is just fin up. i dont have dried weight comparison ...yet, with the buds still on the plant I can see a difference in the overall mass of each. Non tipped, are longer and look like Giant sausage shape. The tipped ones are a lil shorter and shaped more like a football, w/ crazy looking tops. i will post some pics soon. to do a good compairisson, it should be done on 2 clones exact same environment, same branch, same bud. i'm going to prolly keep playing w/it, cause, if at all it is a negetive effect on my ladies, i can NOT see it. looks to be positive,

Huh,.... and I thought I was the only one, go figure.

I've been doing this for a few years now. I just do it a little earlier to control strech of the more dominent colas. usually within the first 2 weeks of 12/12.

As soon as the branch has formed its crown of pistils just the tinyest pinch at it tip stops that branch from stretching allowing others to catch up a little.
Thats why I did it initially but found it had the very favorable side effect of promoting fatter (chunkier if you will) colas that filled in better than thier unpinched counterparts.

Suprised I didn't see this thread sooner.

I haven't done it that late in flower...but I have done it at about 14 days. I topped this bubblegum plant because she was getting too big. I ended up with one huge monster bud...

^ those pictures are whacky! Looking great though. I just gave this a try on mine. about half way through flower. I only took off about 3 pistils worth so maybe a mm or 2. Should I take more off next time?
